Verified Purchase
I want to preface this review by saying I am judging my purchase based on the $700 I spent for this laptop (the suggested retail through Lenovo is higher). So if you are looking to buy this laptop in the price range that I purchased it for, then this will be relevant to you.

This laptop, though it has some flaws, is practically a steal. If you compare the specs at this price range, I promise you that this laptop will come out on top overall. It simply offers good components at every turn, so the complete package of this laptop is hard to beat.

PROS:
- i7-5500U processor will fly through just about anything. It's not top of the line (don't let the i7 throw you), but it is modern, fast, and reliable. Don't expect the processor to bottleneck anything you want this laptop to do.
- The R9 M275 GPU is a very solid budget graphics card. If you're buying a laptop for serious gaming, you simply have to spend a lot more money than this. Bottom line is that this GPU will handle any game you throw at it easily... Just not on high settings. I find that I can play almost every game at 1080p at medium or medium-low settings, or any game at 720p at high settings. For comparison sake, this GPU benchmarks similarly to the GTX 760M. This sits inbetween the 950M and 940M (closer to the 950M). Overall, solid.
- The pictures don't do the laptop many favors, but the profile is reasonably thin and compact. It looks sleek with its design and has a look and feel wedged inbetween an ultrabook and laptop. Very mobile in this respect.
- The trackpad works perfectly. It's responsive, responds to gestures consistently, and does not detract from the usage of the laptop. I had to return an HP for this very issue, so I'm pleased to see that there are no hiccups with the Lenovo.

Verified Purchase
This is my first review ever so bear with me.

After several days of research I settled on buying this laptop for university and I purchased it for $700.
Pros:
Sleek design. The laptop is both very thin and light for what it is
Performance. At this price point the i7-5500U processor and Radeon R9 M275 GPU is more than adequate and is actually a good value. I was able to get Sim City 2013 running at 1080p and medium settings running with no problem at all. The only caveat is that the GPU gets rather toasty around 85C and throttles aggressively but I think that is mainly due to the climate that I live in.
Audio performance. This PC has two speakers that are very loud however the sound is very hollow at times.
Keyboard and trackpad. The typing experience has been very pleasant on this machine, the only keys that are missing are dedicated media controls. The trackpad has been fast and responsive and managed to recognize all windows 8 gestures.
Cons
Screen. The main problem with the screen is the viewing angles. The blurry text can be easily handled by messing around the ClearType utility in windows and changing the onscreen scaling. Also the pure calibration can be easily handled by calibrating the screen in windows. But as mentioned earlier the screen can have some very extreme color shifting even if you move your head a few centimeters to each side.
Lack of an optical drive.
Lack of a displayport. I'd rather have this over an HDMI port solely for the versatility it offers.
Bloatware. Depending on when you purchase this PC it will come packed with bloatware including the infamous Superfish, make sure to remove this as soon as you boot.

Conclusion this PC is perfect if you can get it at around $700 and is definitely perfect for a student.

I did not buy this on amazon, i purchased on lenovo's store but i was just so impressed by it that i had to write a review about it. Firstly this thing has a lot more gaming oomph that i initially thought it would, it has enough power to play most of my games at nearly all highest settings, games like borderlands 2 nearly highest at 1080p, dota 2 maxed, and even shadow of mordor BUT with that one during heavy graphical scenes like rain and lots of combat it will struggle a little but is good overall and very playable being fluent and beautifully smooth, the 2gb of video ram really helps this bad boy shine while the upper model has 4 but for my needs 2 was enough. the CPU is amazing for what your buying, might be just a dual core but its an I7 dual core with hyper-threading so it feels like a really energy efficient mini desktop. The 8 gigs of ram is on one slot so you can easily upgrade to 16 which is WONDERFUL for me. Overall this is an excellent machine but like everything there are gonna be some cons. It has a none IPS panel display so slight tilt up or down and the colors will invert, BUT you can buy an after market ips display on ebay and fix this issue so thats not so bad (although i dont know WHY lenovo didnt just include this to begin with) the other issue is the keyboard/trackpad, while the trackpad is usable it may take some getting use to, i felt it awkward when i clicked and the buttons are hard to press. The keyboard is not great plain and simple, its soft squishy keys lack tactile feedback, if you hit a corner of the key you have a 50/50 shot of it registering, this might not be so bad to some but i didn't care for it, and sadly there is no way to fix this but such is life. i got this machine for 750 after taxes on lenovos website with one of their weekly deals which was perfect.Read more ›
