I've owned this computer for about 2 months. Thankfully I haven't encountered the worst problems some others have. The keyboard, mousepad, monitor etc all seem to work fine. I actually like that the touchpad has real buttons rather than virtual ones because you don't accidentally click anything... The AMD processor seems to perform just fine for my basic use. I don't see the value in spending $100+ more for an Intel. In the task manager, I disabled just about all of the startup tasks and the startup is very fast and I haven't had any loss of performance from those apps.

Cons
Flimsy monitor, not great quality picture, but good enough for me and has held up so far.

Sharp edge on front where the palms of your hands sit. I've sort of gotten used to it, but its annoying. That said, most all of the Lenovo's I looked at have this design...

Tons of bloatware, including some adware and liabilities that took me a while to figure out how to remove. I did a lot of web searching about the various apps and it helped a lot. In the end, I removed just about all of the installed software except the power manager and dvd burner/player and I haven't missed any of it. I did also have drill in a bit to remove some of the hidden bugs but now that its gone everything works smooth and quick.

Pros
Fast startup
Very quiet
Doesn't get hot
Optical drive
light weight
card reader
8gb ram
low price

I would recommend as long as you aren't hard on a computer and use basic internet, office programs, etc.

This is a very decent mid range laptop with very minor flaws,
Pros, Runs games really well the most graphically intensive game I ran on it was space engineers and I had it on low settings getting 42 fps average. This computer runs silently I like it its really peaceful to run even when the fan is on high it run great. Cpu safely can go to 2.4 ghz using AMD overdrive be careful though :).
Cons: The keyboard is a bit bouncy and doesn't feel really enforced near the middle of it which can make it kind of uncomfortable while typing for super long periods of time. The screen isn't too bad either could use more coloring because blacks/grays get a bit grainy. Overall though performance wise this is a great laptop for budget looking gamers I upgraded my ram to 16gb and put a samsung 840 evo 500gb SSD in it also upgraded the network card to be compatible with my 5ghz Netgear router.

After doing hours and hours of research on "budget gaming laptops," I settled on this Lenovo Z50. Keep in mind that not all Z50's are the same. They can have different processors and graphics, etc.
My goal was to be able to play Star Wars: The Old Republic on low settings, as well as just being my everyday computer. I also needed a laptop with a CD drive. This laptop works just fine for these tasks. I am very happy with its performance. It's fast enough to do what I need it to do. It's also solidly built, in my opinion. And it's not ugly. This is my second Lenovo product (I also have a Yoga Tablet) and I haven't had any problems with either one.
HOWEVER,
1. The battery life is kinda sad, which is fine for me since it stays plugged in at home.
2. For some reason, my space bar doesn't always cooperate, which can be frustrating when typing. I have to tap it just a tiny bit harder than the other keys. I'm not in school anymore, so it's not a big concern for me.
3. I've read that some people have problems with the touchpad, but I use a mouse. So again, not a problem for me.

Keep in mind, this isn't a "gaming laptop." It's a decently-powered home laptop that can handle games like SWTOR or WOW. If your computing needs and situation are similar to mine, then I recommend this laptop.

I am extremely happy with this budget laptop on minecraft I can play high setting with getting 50fps and other games at high settings. The camera is really nice and clean. It came surrounded in stirophome. The microphone is really clean sounding when playing it back. It's fast but, 8.1 gets confusing. That's only the only con other than the battery depletes fast on normal mode. If you're looking for a cheap gaming laptop, here you go.

Got this to replace a three-year old Samsung that cost us $1000. This $400 unit is *much* nicer. It's easily as fast as the old one and it's just a nicer unit. Having the actual buttons for the touchpad was a selling point and they've been much more comfortable for all of us in the family than the old one was.

Disclaimer: First off, Amazon is honestly the best retailer known to man. I just want to clarify, my beef is not with Amazon at all, just Lenovo.

So, I purchased this computer. At first glance it was great! I installed all the stuff soon as I booted it up and was then prompted to install Windows 10. I used it for a couple days and it worked great! After a while, as soon as I signed in I would get an error message and the screen would turn blue and the computer would crash (The only sites I had visited at this time were youtube and facebook and I have anti virus software). I called Lenovo support for assistance, They informed me that my warranty expires in 3 months... I just purchased this laptop, brand new, and they said I have 3 months left on my 1 year warranty... Fine, whatever. The guy said it was a Windows 10 error and that I needed to delete Windows 10 and use Windows 8. He said I could install Windows 10 later and install a patch. I wasn't interested considering what just happened and the fact I needed this for school. Finally my computer worked. Not 2 days later, I went on facebook and my friend posted a video on my timeline. I went to watch the video, boom, green screen. I could hear the video but the screen was green. I called Lenovo right away to utilize my (apparent 3 month warranty) The lady said it was an easy fix and she would have everything running in no time. She then proceeded to tell me that if I needed assistance I then needed to pay a service fee. I asked her "Why would I pay a service fee for a brand new product I literally just purchased, that is not working?) She then proceeded to tell me that I could pay a one time service fee or sign up for a monthly subscription. Do not buy this laptop.
