This is a decent budget laptop. The keyboard is nice, but not backlit. It does have a full keyboard with number pad. I was surprised how light this machine is. I think this laptop is good for moderate to light gaming.

The Nvidia GT 820 will play older and non demanding games well, but if you looking to play newer games at high settings you will want to spend more money for GTX 850 or higher. Its better than the intel 4400, but about the same as the Iris 5500. I pretty much just play the sims, and it's great on this machine.

I upgraded the laptop myself, I added a ssd drive, which really increased the speed. It has 2 ram slots, only one of them is in use. So you could buy one 8gb ram stick and upgrade if necessary. This pc is super easy to upgrade. The back has three screws, and then you have direct access to the hard drive, and the RAM, and the network card. So I would recommend buying this model with the processor and graphics card you want and upgrading the rest later.

The worst thing about this laptop so far is the screen. This is why it gets 4 stars instead of 5, but at this price you are lucky to find full HD 1080p at all. There are no viewing angles here. It's old school. However, when looking at it dead on its very nice.

Second worst thing is the sound, out of the box it's quiet as a mouse. I'm not sure if there are settings I need to change or what, but for a media laptop it's way too quiet. I use a Bluetooth speaker with it.

Overal, the build quality is solid, it's thin, has a comfortable keyboard, and is easy to upgrade. I use this for school, programming and light games. I haven't had any problems with it at all, not even after I tinkered with it.

The computer works really great, and fits my needs quite well so far. (Gaming as well as casual use) I don't like the shortened right Shift key, as I often hit the up arrow.. I also don't like the mouse pad being so far on the left, so I just keep it shut off while I have a USB mouse plugged in. My wrist would always hit it, and mess up what I'm doing. I also don't use the new Window's screen.. I just click through to the desktop.

it has some design elements which are just mistakes; like adding the seam from the top of the keyboard to the bottom on the computer on the top so the sharp little lip presses into your skin if you rest your arms on the top of it; the speakers are on the bottom of the machine; it only has one audio jack which is used to both microphones and headphones just in case the vagueness about whether it was dual purpose got you too. The most offensive thing to me about this computer is the little sharp edge against my forearm, but second to that just due to the fact that it pervasive because I like to type at the clip of about 40 words per minute is that the keyboard and the touchpad both have a very slow response. Just writing this review there would be letters missing because it just simply doesn't catch up to what you are doing sometimes, it's not that you have many activities going on as I only have this tab going, it does.

It has been a solid purchase so far. It will handle World of Warcraft without any lag and handles school programs such as Wireshark with ease. Good build quality. It isn't touch screen and the touch pad kind of blows but I use a mouse and this is hands down the best value gaming laptop available right now.

So I'm still not sure how I feel about this computer, I'm going to try it out for a little while longer and decide whether I wanted to return it or not. First of all, I'm used to computers with at least an aluminum lid, so when I first got this computer out of the box it looked and felt almost like a toy to me. Well for the price I really wasn't expecting too much... Yeah it's not the prettiest looking thing, but at least the plastic feels relatively sturdy. The biggest issue I have with this laptop is definitely the display. It is abysmal for something that's FHD. It's really dark unless you have the brightness all the way up. It has horrible viewing angles, the worst I've ever seen. The colors are super off, everything has this blue cast to it, and blacks aren't actually black. So I was able to fix most of the color issues by calibrating the display, but it's acceptable at best. Also there were scaling issues when I first turned on the laptop, some applications would have blurry text, so I had to mess with the zooming options to fix it. Other than that, I'm not a fan of the keyboard layout, the right arrow key goes into the number pad, and the enter and shift keys are shortened.

Pros:
Runs cool even when I'm using CAD and rendering programs.
Extremely quiet.
No hardware issues so far.
Did not come with the infamous Superfish (seriously Lenovo?!)... Thank god.

Cons:
The display is just bad.
Looks/feels cheap.
Flimsy DVD drive.
Keyboard layout is weird.
Battery life is only 3 hours.

I got this refurbished for about 500$. First of all it came on time. Looks almost like new. Worked perfectly. Good job by refurbisher.

Now the nitty gritty.

If you want a 5 star computer spend 1200$ and get an Apple. If you want a killer gaming laptop spend the 2G $ on one. This isn't that.

Pros: Under 1000$ for icore7 4th generation. High def screen. Large screen size. NVIDIA graphics. 8 G RAM easy to upgrade to 16G. Dolby sound app comes with it. One touch recovery. One T hard drive is large.
Cons: You need to take out bloatware. Screen viewing angles limited. Speakers are meh (better when you use the Dolby) Chicklets Keyboard is mediocre (strike keys firmly or it misses letters). thin case (do not drop it).
I did my research so I am happy with it. After the bloat ware was removed it was pretty snappy. It can handle most games at medium or high graphics. Good for streaming media. DVD player. All round practical. I did not expect a 5 star computer for 500$. I got a very useful computer that can stream, run apps and most games very nicely with an icore7 and decent RAM. That was a good deal in my estimation.
