Will be perfect after you change a few things...

First off I'm a graphic designer and an automotive photographer. I've been on the look out for a laptop with the adequate specs and price point under 500. I ran across this version on slickdeals and after taxes it totaled to 550.

I like the build quality. The brushed aluminum where you're resting your palms gives it a good refined/expensive feel to it. At 5.4 pounds it's light and really portable and easily can be held by one hand.

Screen. I noticed at some points of the installation processes the lettering are some what fuzzy but I believe it may just be me. Good contrast and clear otherwise.

One thing that I did notice is that the mouse has a feature where you can swipe on the outer edges of the mouse pad. I did not realize this until I started to get frustrated from the window switching to the start menu randomly when trying to start typing. You simply go into the mouse settings and disable the advance swipe functions. When you do the keyboard is nice and comfortable to type anything.

Speed. I may be spoiled by having a fully built and custom big rig desktop with top specs. The speed is 'okay' reason why I gave this 3 stars. I have a Samsung Evo SSD on the way to kick things up a few notches. I was blinded by seeing "i7" thinking that it will be blazing fast. It may be the HDD that's bottlenecking the performance. One thing that I did learn after buying this is that the "U" behind the processor name stands for low voltage. Which basically means it's not as fast as what you think it is. All in all I hope that when the SSD comes in I will change my mind.

All in all for the price for which I paid for this is worth it. .

I've used this laptop now for about a month, and it has definitely met all my needs. It starts up quickly, and it is the perfect size. This is not a touchscreen model for those who prefer that; a few friends and coworkers questioned why I wouldn't want touchscreen with Windows 8. It just wasn't what I wanted.

I'm not ultra computer-savvy, but I did notice a lot of junk comes pre-installed, I'm working on removing what I don't need. I haven't tried to watch video, or play any games, so I can't speak to those things.

Make sure to get your license key. Worst Service EVER

To anyone thinking about purchasing a Lenovo computer, don't. Their customer services is awful and they are scammers.

Windows requires you to input your license key to verify you own the software before you can download it for free from their website. That I can understand. But without access to my key I could not get the recovery files.

It is against the Lenovo company policy to give the customer the license keys or disks to the version of Windows that came on their computers, so if your computer crashes or if you need to do a system recovery you need to purchase (from Lenovo of course) a set of recovery disks for $65 and then wait minimum of 2 weeks for those disks to be delivered to you.

I find this to be an outrageous company practice and insane that I should not have access to this information for something that is rightfully mine. I also see no reason why I should have to pay for something I already own like my OS.

When I expressed this opinion to the person on the phone the response I got was "If you're too stupid to back up your computer then it's not our problem and we're going to take your money, because what else can you do?"

You don't want to know what I responded with to that. Let's just say my response was highly unpleasant and leave it there.

Now, I will say that I do back up my files, so in the crash of my hard drive I lost nothing. I have never backed up my OS because that's what the recovery files are for. Why would I back something up if a backup already exists?

Check and make sure you have a recovery file for your OS or at minimum knowledge of your license key. And never purchase anything by #Lenovo.

I bought it for 350 bucks which is a returned laptop sold by Beccela's. the keyboard quality is poor and you have to hit with force otherwise you will miss a typing. the revolving pillar connection the screen and the keyboard is broken. I know i got it really cheap and was prepared for some imperfection, but this broken piece is still beyond my estimation. The noise of the fan is really loud. I have to settle for this laptop because I don't know how to return it to the seller.
