Good/Sufficient Battery - Slight, manageable issues

As my 2009 13" Macbook original battery was indicating "Replace Soon" and I didn't want to pony up $130 for an Apple battery, I did what any other frugal (read: cheap), Amazon Prime customer would do: Search for alternatives on Amazon. Searched for a replacement for my ASMB016 battery (click Apple symbol, 'About this Mac,' 'More Info,' 'Power') and found this one with great reviews for $21, shipped.

Woohoo, we're in business!

It arrived and I quickly swapped out my battery to test this puppy out. Had to peel protective plastic to get the battery in, negating my ability to return, but hey, $20?, no worries.

About fit - something is just...off. first attempt would not allow me to lock the battery in. Then noticed the cuts & notches aren't 'exactly' (yes, I used air quotes - sue me) the same as the original battery and you need to slide the side opposite the lock in first then press down the lock side. Then, to lock it, you need to press down on the battery on the four corners while turning the lock mechanism. All good.

Powered up the laptop and noticed the battery was charged to 75% - cool, let's run it down and test it out! But, then noticed two things:

1.) Battery indicator says "Service Battery" versus my replaced "Replace Soon," indicating in theory this battery to be in worse shape.Read more ›

Buyer Beware- I would not trust this seller

I ordered a battery that clearly stated in the Amazon ad that it was a new battery for an Apple MacBook. I received a very USED, swollen battery that clearly was labeled as a MacBook Pro battery. To return the item, they required me to take a photo of the item and refused to send me an Amazon pre-paid label to ship. This meant I had to make a trip to the post office, pay up front for the return and wait for them to return my money.

I was able to buy a battery at nearly the same cost that was as advertised. Be sure to check out the seller!

Affects the mousepad some what
