LotFancy® Laptop Cooling Pad Cooler with One Fan with Led Light For 13''- 15" Laptop Notebook tablet, just came in the mail today, opened it up and hooked it right up. Very sleek design, has little feet to get laptop up off surface for better air circulation passing underneath and for the fan ventilation...And it is SUPER QUIET, YAY!!! One more time YAY, No really I can not hear it at all :) this is what I am HAPPIEST about obviously. I also am liking the slant that those little feet give it, just the perfect angle for typing up reviews. Gives off a nice little back lite from underneath as well. Don't make the mistake I did and buy a different one because it has more fans I already did that and I am going to tell you that it was a mistake, it was loud and it did not put out even half the wind this fan does and there was 3 smaller fans on that one, that's why I am writing this review to tell you before you waste your time and money, you will be satisfied with this one, this one larger fan does a much better job then 3 smaller ones, it even puts out enough air that it gently cools your palms while typing, this thing is great guys. I was invited to purchase this at a discounted price for a full and honest review of the product, and I have to say Thank you to LotFancy for Awesome, Quality made products!! One last thing, I included some photos below so you can see how this may work with your own setup, and the last 2 photos I wanted to include that USB extra, you will still be able to use your USB port while using the fan at the same time because it is the extension type that you can jump off of and use another usb at the same time, and YES IT DOES WORK, ANOTHER YAY!! I hooked up my camera to upload these picks here at the same time and included the photos while finishing up this review, I HIGHLY recommend this for all laptop users, you will be very pleased :)

Good idea, but too many flaws...

For starters, this device does keep your lap relatively cool, but you have to keep your legs separated for that to happen. If you keep your legs close together, your lap will still warm up quite a bit regardless. Also, if you elevate your legs at all--instead of keeping them flat--your computer will slowly slide off of this cooling pad. I found myself bracing my laptop with my wrists as I typed and surfed (as I like to prop my legs up a bit), and the flex of my wrists combined with the weight of my sliding computer inevitably caused discomfort/pain in my wrists. If you always sit with your legs flat, this shouldn't be an issue for you.

Two big annoyances involve the device design. My old laptop (which I bought this cooling pad for) weighs 5-6 pounds and my hands naturally rest on its surface as I type. This combined weight (of the computer and my hands) regularly caused this cooling pad's fan to hit the metal on the inside of its frame. Part of the reason I bought this was to keep my own computers fan from making too much noise, and these scraping sounds were much louder than my computer's fan ever was. Also, the dual side USB plug is cheaply constructed and has sharp edges (I scraped/cut my wrist when picking up this cooling pad), even if it enables you to plug in the cooling pad and still have the same slot open for another USB device.

A couple of minor things...the dual side USB plug wraps under the cooling pad, but the dual side plug doesn't fit snugly in its slot. Also, the LotFancy sticker on the upper surface comes off easily. My sticker slid off as my computer slid off this cooling pad. I guess these things are par for the course at this price point, but they shouldn't be.

BOTTOM LINE: This cooling pad is great in concept, but I don't recommend this particular model (or those similar to it, based on the above).

three stars, but in a good way

Well, ok; when this product first arrived, I wasn't happy with it because I mis-read the specs before I ordered it. My laptop is approximately fifteen inches wide, while this pad is roughly thirteen inches wide, and I'm a bit OCD about things like that. My biggest gripe is that when I had the pad inclined, my laptop would slide off.

The next day I got on here and requested a refund, but since the quality wasn't an issue, I was told I'd have to pay to return it my self. The money I would have spent to do that wouldn't be cost-effective. So I decided to keep the pad, and I'm glad I did.

I addressed the sliding problem with some velcro tape, which basically means that it's part of the laptop now. As for the size, I realized this is a good thing because there is about an inch of output vent directly below the vent on the side. The smaller size allowed for the hot air to flow out of the laptop, and not get re-cycled back into the laptop.

Ok, so now; why only three stars? Well, as it is written in countless reviews, you can't turn off the blue lights, which isn't a huge deal, but it does increase the energy consumption. It seems as though none of the pads like this one have a feature to disable the lights. I may open it up and see if I can just disconnect them or something, but I may not. As for the biggest gripe. I shouldn't have to buy velcro tape to hold this thing together. There are ways to address this problem, while maintaining an affordable price.

As far as the effectiveness, the fan puts out about as much air as you would expect from something that runs off usb, and you really need it inclined to get enough air to be effective if you're using it on a flat surface.Read more ›
