I'm going to be in College soon and I was looking for a laptop, lightweight enough for my needs and powerful enough for my gaming. I decided to get this laptop because It had the new 5th gen I7 5700. My only concern was that I did not pay a little extra for an SSD! Get an SSD folks, it can really make your PC that much better!

best laptop ever.
easy cooling. 2gb DDR5 running games on max and 12gb RAM!!!! and I easily upgrade to a 500gb SSD. just take it slow its a little time to pry apart after screws are off.
on charger this thing is a high power desktop. running video programs, rendering, gaming, everything basically.
on battery you have about an hour of gaming/ editting/ high cpu, gpu performance and 3 hours with google chrome/ microsoft office w/ low brightness but back light doesn't seem to effect battery TOO much just don't do the wavy/ flashy backlights
keyboard layout is good. lights on all the lock buttons. tons of customization.
only complaint I have is the useless dvd drive. its a little sensitive to opening if to place it down too hard buts it not too bad.
and the material on the laptop (NOT keyboard) is a HUGE fingerprint magnet but a wipe of a towel will get rid of it.
still love this laptop.

This laptop is so well put together. It gives you exactly what you need for high performance in anything you would like to (Gaming, High CPU Usage, Design Rendering, Movies, Multitasking, etc). Let me just resume this in pros and cons.

Pros:
-Extremely fast and capable for anything you want. The high performance mode lets you work at turbo boost at all time, so you basically have a 3.5 GHz processor in a laptop.
-EXCELLENT sound. Like literally the best I've ever heard in a Laptop and the Nahimic software enhacer does a pretty good job AS WELL.
-Extremely nice keyboard. I love the typing feeling. Not the Macbook type feeling but it is pretty comforting and I get typing speeds of around 90-100 wps when my usual is 80. Also the backlit is nice although I only use it in one color. :P
-SUPER USEFUL applications for controlling your laptops performance.
-The dual cooling system is very efficient and keeps everything cool. They do have to work a liiiiiiiitle bit on the left-front side of the keyboard but nothing harmful. It is cool that you can activate your cooling system whenever you are going to stress the system a little bit.
-Haven't upgraded to SSD but it is nice that they give you the option to do it in the future. Anyways, the laptop is fast, boots up in less than 30-40 sec and for the moment I don't need more but it is still NICE to have the slots.
-I really like that you can connect up to 3 external monitors @60 fps @ 1080p using the HDMI port and the Display Port converted into two-HDMI ports eventhough I am not using it like this actually.
-The mouse pad isn't the best but you CAN get used to it. Is just a matter of adapting to its texture and finding the way to make it feel comfortable to you.Read more ›

Rather then deal with some stupid process that probably would only waste time

Only problem I have had is that the keyboard spacebar needed to be pressed exactly in the center to work. The manufacturer even told me to only press it in the center. Rather then deal with some stupid process that probably would only waste time, I popped the ley off and put a folded layer of paper over the sensor and put the key back on. It now works perfect.

Awesome Machine!

Left Lenovo and joined the MSI clan!

Hello,
Its been a couple of days since the purchase of this laptop and I've been awed by it! I initially had ordered a Lenevo Y50-70 UHD 4k from MS Store. Unfortunately, it had issues related to the screws falling and a poor display(yellow display issue). Also, the built quality of a $1499 laptop was not good. The plastic parts were of a poor quality. The designs were sticking out with sharp edges all around. I returned it and bought this! Awesome display(very low glare) and it has a good viewing angle. Despite of its high specs, the fan doesn't make a lot of noise. The keyboard is made to perfection with a good tactile feedback. Typing on this is a charm! The Steelseries engine is surely impressing others! I haven't been able to play much with it though. The settings and all may need some time to get used to. The mouse is satisfactory. I have not been able to get a hang of it. The scrolling and all would need some time to get adjusted. I've tested a few Virtual Machines(used VMWare Workstation 12) on this and the response given to me is commendable! The games I've tried so far are GTA-V and COD-Black Ops and it handled it with perfection! I played them with medium to high settings. I am still trying the best way to calibrate the settings. The upgrade to Windows 10 went smoothly. I would have been happier if this came with 16GB RAM cause it just has two slots in it. As of now, one slot is with 4GB RAM. Moreover, if Windows 10 Pro would have been included with this then it could have been targeted to some work-o-holics as well! Anyways, I am still very happy with its configuration and performance! MSI has surely tried and tested this one! The best has been delivered! Go for it, you won't be disappointed! :)
