Only buy this laptop if your expectations are set correctly.

If youre looking for the typical gaming laptop, this is not it. This laptop goes beyond what you think a laptop can do. Yes, you will read plenty of reviews by people that say "but a desktop for that price is way better!"

Yes, they are correct.

Laptops are behind their desktop counterparts and will remain that way for a while. But this laptop is a BIG (figurative and literal) step forward. If you're coming here expecting to throw all your money at a laptop that will match the highest end desktops, then you wont achieve that. But this laptop gets you REALLY close. For me, this laptop is a replacement for a desktop. The problem with desktops, for me, is that I can't watch them in the family room with everyone else.

For years I could just hole up in my room and endlessly play video games on my desktop without interacting with anyone. But I've grown up now (but only a little) and kind of like spending time with others while on my laptop. Unfortunately, my desktop just doesn't provide me with that luxury anymore and my old laptop couldnt handle games like Witcher 3 and Batman: Arkham Knight.

TL:DR section:

Long story short, buying this laptop, imo, comes down to how you answer a few questions.

Are you giving up desktops (for whatever reasons)?
Do you at least sometimes wish you could bring your laptop with you (For example: visiting in-laws or friends)?
Do you often play the newest/highest graphic intensity games that come out on Steam (Witcher 3, etc?)

If you answered yes to all of those, buy it.

This laptop arrived an hour ago and I'm writing this review on it right now. It's gigantic, it's heavy, it's beautiful, and it's blazing fast. I've never had a computer this loaded, desktop or laptop.

I do wish there was an option for a higher screen resolution than 1920x1080 but with the amount of screen real estate it's not a deal-breaker. The tactile feedback on the real mechanical keyboard is amazing. The sound system is beautiful and the graphics are gloriously sharp and detailed.

Enough with the review, I'm off to game.

My Alienware computer had the graphics cards burn up and I almost bought another one. The thing that made me look elsewhere was the fact that they no longer offer an 18" laptop and they also no longer put disc drives in their laptops. I mean really? They want $4k for a laptop and they can't put a cd drive in it. Needless to say, I looked at MSI because my old Alienware had an MSI motherboard in it. Decided to go with the absolute best computer they made and it runs every game smooth as silk. The only problem I've had is the MSI software itself: it has caused some games to not work like GTA5. Because of that, every time I start my computer I have to manually turn off their software. Disabling it on startup did not keep it from running which is why I still do it manually. Otherwise, it is absolutely worth the price.

The only issue I have is on the keyboard, ...

The only issue I have is on the keyboard, somehow I have two "c" keys and no "x" key. I put in a ticket on the MSI website and they got back to me right away offering to return the computer. I told them I was not interested in returning the computer and asked if they couldn't just send me an "x" key since the keys were exchangeable. They are putting the new key in the mail today.

This is a real gobstopper of a machine. Big in every way. If your looking for a laptop that can replace a tower, u've found it. I didn't find any negatives, other then bigness, and that aint a negative if u want a desktop in a laptop. Luv it.
