First of all this is my first gaming laptop. At first I was using a regular HP computer with Intel graphics(lol). After a while of frustrating lag and crashes I decided I needed an actual gaming laptop if I wanted to play my pc games with my friends. Two of them got a lenovo y50 and a fangbook iii hx6, which are very good gaming laptops as well. However I chose MSI over both because of the cost and specs. This laptop is a beast and big as well, for me that is since I've never owned a 17 inch laptop. The screen is very vibrant and graphics are clear and crisp. I also don't have to deal with annoying glare that I got with my old laptop (especially since it was touchscreen). Since I've gotten this laptop I've only played a few games that aren't very intensive such as League of Legends and Day Z( they ran smoothly on very high) . However I'm planning on getting a lot more games and will make an update on this laptop's performance.

The build is very nice and looks very sleek even tho it is a little thick. The hinge is also very sturdy, I can't ever see it breaking (unlike the lenovo y50 since there were many complaints online if the hinge breaking) The keys are comfortable and I adjusted to them pretty quickly. I love that the fans are at the back which means less overheating and you don't have to worry about resting your laptop on something to prop it up. I've seen complaints about the touchpad (I will say I hate the sound of the clicking it makes), however it doesn't affect me at all since I use a wireless mouse (I got the Acctrend Wireless Mouse which you can find on amazon for $13)

The only thing that really disappointed me was the backlit keyboard, as the previous photo had the rbg keyboard which could be customized.

semply yes!
in this review i will cover this laptop intirelly from pros to cons and my personal expriance with this product.

this laptop from the start was what i pretty much expected for it's price vs it's big brother the MSI GE72 Apache Pro-077. this modle is made a bit more cheaplly then it's big brother and also doesn't have the same performace but vary close for a who whoping 500 bucks less. this laptop does have some issues though the frame around the screen is made with cheaper materails and is a bit flimsy, it's ram is 4Gigs less and it has a 4th gen intel icore7 hoswell but everything exsept the cheaplly made screen frame all of this is pretty much what you get for $1000 USD.
the keyborad is a solid lit LED white which to me is fine and better then not lit at all. the rig runs really well running Tera, World of Warcraft, Neverwinter and Guild Wars 2 at 54-76 FPS at max settings. that is really almost unbalevable but it will push it. there is a issue while gamaing that wen you have everything on power setting and performace pushing max that your laptop will get a little on the warm side as i have seen mostly it's your prossesser getting a bit hot at 71c but the GPU remains most of the time at 65c and these tempertures are still in the safe limit for this laptops chip set heat limits, which is at 85c.(85c beagining of danger zone 90c shut the game down or shut down system to cool off)
i would recommend that you buy a high grade cooling pad if your a bit worried about the heat. for me i have a homemade laptop cooling pad that uses 6 12v 92cm fans, it does really well and wen on my temps do not reach any higher then 61c.

Pros and Cons.

Pros
#1 for the price, the best med budget laptop you can buy in the $800 to $1000 price range.

I've had this machine for 3 days now. Build quality is outstanding and the weight of it is very lite. I originally had an Asus ROG and let me tell you, this machine blows that one away. When you first get it, do your windows updates and then calibrate the battery. When you calibrate the battery, it fixes the 92% charge issue. The speakers are loud, the keys are lite to the touch and very responsive. The screen is bright and so are the led lights for the keys. Unplugged, the battery lasts about an hour and a half on full power settings. the seller did not label this product correctly though. This machine is the GE72 AQD Apache Pro.

Truly, a gamer's laptop.

MSI knows you. If you're a gamer, they know all about what you want in a machine (out-of-box performance goes by the wayside, we all tweak our machines anyways). However, they throw in stuff we love.. hubs for real-time stats, a button that maxes the fans, and versatile hardware that lets you play with the firmware (flash if you like, but honestly, MSI has a pretty solid grip on it).

Pro tips: Update the drivers, first thing you should do if you bought a machine loaded for windows 8 but upgraded to windows 10. Fortunately for you, MSI has them all on their website and in order. (Seriously, anyone here ever try doing a full driver re-haul on their own? This is an underrated feature of MSI, they give you the update order... saves many headaches. )

Now onto the cons:

Anyone coming from a Macintosh without prior windows experience, be prepared. You will need to configure settings, troubleshoot, and wait, and wait some more. For old-school gamers, this is part of the package. For Apple lovers, well, it's not as "simple" as what you are used to. I would advice anyone who isn't "tech savvy" or skilled in the art of google to reconsider.

That being said, this is a killer machine if you know how to use it. No doubts, for a laptop, this thing blows any competitors (under $2k) out of the water. Money well spent if you are looking for a beast of a machine.

2 hour battery life: yep, it's true. if you're lucky, you will get a full two hours out of it. Be warned.

Lastly, no SSD is a bit of a bummer, but it's fast enough that the SSD isn't really an issue. I saw some posts about the quality of the hinges and the trackpad and well.. hinges are fine.
