    Great Value And Performance Under $1000. Upgradeable General Purpose Gaming Laptop

    I bought this after spending weeks searching for the most upgradeable and easy to maintain laptop that is $1000 or less. After watching a few MSI YouTube tutorials and reviews about the GP and GE models, I decided to take my chances with the GP60 instead of spending the extra $200 to get a GE Apache Pro-867. The GP60 bottom panel completely exposes the components after removing only 4 screws, this makes hardware customization and maintenance very simple. When I purchased this GP60 it was selling for $999 (I bought it on April 8, 2015), and the GE Apache Pro-867 cost $1199. I decided to spend the extra $200 on an SSD and better RAM.

    I replaced the stock hard drive with a Samsung Pro SSD and upgraded the RAM to Crucial Ballistix Sport. I am currently using Windows 7 64bit, and I found all of the GP60 drivers I need on the MSI website. In general I am a casual gamer who only plays single player 90% of the time in all of my games and some of the games I enjoy are not very graphically demanding. When I tried Wolfenstein: The New Order I was able to get between 35 FPS and 45 FPS when I maxed out all of the gpu settings to Ultra 1080p. In the past I have never been able to attempt high or ultra settings with any mid-range laptop I have owned. The Acer laptop I owned (my GP60 replaced this) had struggled to keep Wolfenstein: The New Order settings above 20 FPS on Low gpu settings. I still need to test out more games but I am sure that my customized GP60 can handle almost any current game at medium and high settings while keeping the FPS above 60.

    The build quality, in my opinion, is good and I have found no issues with it being mostly plastic. Most reviews that you will find online about the GP series might say something negative about the plastic materials used for these laptops.    Read more ›

    Probably one of the best buys for the value.

    Pros: For under a $1000 this is probably one of the best laptops, specification wise out there. It will be able to do most gaming on high to Ultra settings without absolutely bogging down gameplay with lag. The computer has pretty good sound, though i rarely use mine without headphones in. I was looking to upgrade from a really old and crappy toshiba, that had trouble running games on minimum specs. I did about 5 days worth of research, and for the price this was the best out there that fit what i was looking for.

    Cons: It is a little heavier than most laptops, which doesn't bother me, but if your planning on doing a lot of traveling with it, just keep that in mind. The fan runs a little loud, but it does keep the laptop to only reasonably warm. The biggest con i found, was that the built in microphone. The microphone on the laptop seems has trouble hearing my voice at a normal talking level at more than a couple feet away and picks up a lot of background noise from typing and clicking. It's not a big deal, and doesn't make things too hard, and using a plug in mic should fix that.

    I purchased the Leopard Pro-825 on July 5th 2015 through one of Amazon's re-sellers, I received an MSI GP60 2QF Leopard Pro-879US on July 10, 2015 as a substitute product. Both the PC I ordered & the PC I received use "identicle key components". I was looking for an i7 quad core, Nvidia Gforce GTX graphics card, a 7200rpm drive & trying to stay below $ 1000. This PC is real fast and will be well suited for my daughters needs going back to college (Interior Design, Industrial Design & Grapic arts). She wanted to downsize to a 15" screen (her old 17" was too much to lug around campus). We accomplished all our goals with the Leopard Pro GP60 series. Loading MS Office, AutoCAD & Adobe design software was super fast, opening programs or files is lighting quick too - this thing should be a winner.

    I am biased. This is my first gaming laptop. I dreamed about this since teenage. I bought it because it is the cheapest on its class and i like that it was upgradeable! Any gamer will know. We don't need customer ready products, we like it to have rooms for improvement. Great job Windows 10! It was an astonishing user experience compared to your predecessor Windows 8.

    Very much worth the price, built very solid, no problems with it being 100% plastic. Max settings in skyrim, this pc puts out a solid 40 frames in combat, 60 everywhere else.

    If you want a machine for gaming, this monster will eat throw anything you throw at it.
    Not only that, but it has easy-access to the ports for upgrading! (designed with gamers in mind)
    You don't really need it as of now, but you can make this monster even more of a monstrosity if you please!
    Bioshock Infinite on Ultra settings (maxed out) runs at a smooth 60fps when plugged in, and a perfect 30-40fps when on battery.
    Can I stress how awesome this is?
    I love it, will ALWAYS buy from MSI from now on!
