Works, but not made of strong materials.

Sound quality is... decent. However, the product seems to be made somewhat cheaply. The thumb-clip on the back which is used for opening the clamp/jaw for clipping it to the laptop broke off during the first attempt to open the jaws - this was done with VERY little pressure, but it is no surprise as the plastic ridge your thumb is meant to grab is extremely thin and not securely adhered to the body of the speaker.

Also, while this is "USB-Powered", it still requires a connection to the stereo/headphone jack. While this should be obvious to some, it deserves clarity in the product description in case folks are expecting to only use one connection.

This is a really well made and good sounding speaker system!

It is small enough to fit almost anywhere and has heft to it. I used some hook and loop tape to mount
it under my 32" monitor. Listening to Kenny Chesney as I type this and it is giving me good reproduction.
It is not a tinny sounding unit with good tone for a speaker of this size. The volume control is a nice feature.

I am impressed with this speaker and would recommend it to anyone who wants good sound from mostly any
media or audio source that has a USB for power.

Exceeded all expectations

My Toshiba notebook has tiny speakers with poor tone and weak volume... this speaker clips on securely, does not block the camera, and the tone and volume are - well maybe not amazing, but it's close.
I have a Brand-Name USB speaker bar for my desktop, and it has the fairly common hiss and hum, so my expectations were low for this speaker bar. But the Microlab B51 USB powered speaker has *none* of that, and when turned all the way up, the volume can be heard anywhere throughout our 2600 sq ft house when played from any room.

After reading a lot of negative reviews on numerous USB speaker bars, I was nervous. But this speaker bar performs quite well - I could not expect better performance at any price... And this bar was only a very slight premium over the cheapest competitors.

Not bad for the price, but almost as tinny as laptop speakers

Okay, so what can a girl realistically expect for under $20? This speaker certainly does boost the volume and room-filling sound capacity of my Chromebook, but for my purpose (music listening), these speakers are very mediocre in their sound quality. As other reviewers have said, the sound is tinny and bass lines are hopelessly lost, which makes me sad. Again, there is truth to getting what one pays for when it comes to sound quality of speakers. But for someone who isn't much of an audiophile or who is using these speakers for other purposes (e.g., to listen to, say, audio lectures or maybe even streaming TV shows/movies), it's a nice little speaker for the price. I have no problems with the clip-on design; it works perfectly on my Chromebook and doesn't cause the lid to close or fall backwards. It does emit the "screech of death" (as other reviewers have called it) when it is on and no audio is being played, but I don't find it to be as loud or annoying as others have said... simply turning off the power button makes it stop. I will probably end up replacing this with a better quality speaker for music when I can afford to do so, but truly... for the price, how can I complain?

Amazing quality for the price!!

I love this thing! Very solid construction, feels like something that would cost much more.
The clip works well on my laptop and tablet pc ( It has a half circle cutout on the front of the clip to allow webcams to show through). As far as the sound is concerned, it's quite loud and clear. Not the most amazing speakers out there, and it does get a little distorted if you max the volume - if you're looking to play loud music, this might not be the BEST choice. I use mine mainly for streaming video (my tablet pc speakers are terribly quiet) and it's PERFECT for it. I can hear my shows/movies from across the room with prefect quality.

I was happy with this purchase for the price. It gives good sound and I appreciate the volume control on the speaker instead of having to go to the computer's control. The reason that I didn't give it a 5 rating is because it has 2 cords to plug in and that can be a bit of a hassle . My last small speaker that was similar just plugged into the computer without the usb. Having said that, the volume was lacking as well.
