This is one of those simple but really useful gadgets to have. It's an LED light but, instead of a single bulb or two, it has a row of 10 bulbs arranged in a 6 inch span. The light output at it's brightest level is very bright - actually too bright in that you'll hurt your eyes if you look at the bulbs when they are at full brightness.

You turn the light on by tapping the end of the "bulb stick." Touch once to turn it on/off, press and hold while it is on to adjust the brightness. There's a wide range of brightness levels, from ultra bright to barely on. Unfortunately, it does not remember the last setting when you turn it off and then turn it on again. It always comes on at the brightest setting.

The stalk is very bendy but holds its position well. It's also very sturdy, with a metal rather than plastic casing. The total length is about 19 inches; the bendable stalk about 10.5 inches long. This is very thin - the bulb end is about the width of a pencil - so it's easy to fold up and stow in a tablet or laptop bag. Excellent build quality, especially considering the price.

It has a standard USB connector on the end for power. I've been powering it with a small powerbank and it draws very little power - leaving it on for several hours barely made a dent in the powerbank charge level.

I find this very helpful when using a tablet at night. I can bend the stalk so the light shines where I want it (the attached keyboard) but not on the screen. It's easy to stow when not in use - no wires or bits that get tangled up. Great value for the price.

Pros:
Good design, good size for a plug-in USB light. Quite bright, the adjustable dimming feature is quite nice because as others have said, this light is quite bright.
Cons: due to the design of USB itself, not necessarily this particular light, but possibly because of its weight, and most certainly due to how long it is (a good thing), tends to be a little too heavy for a USB socket to support, causing it to want to fall out. Might need extra support, I used a zip tie and attached it to part of an electrical cord nearby as an anchor. Last but definitely not least, arrived with two of the 10 LEDs dead on arrival, and another two went out within two weeks of use. Still works, on 6 LEDs, but... I'd expect that out of like a cheap two or five dollar eBay light, but not this one. Buy at your own risk.

The touch switch and the dimming function are great. It does have a couple of problems that are easy to fix. I like modifying and customizing things. If you don't then this little light might not be for you.

First the light comes out at a fairly wide angle so it is hard to avoid having the light in your eyes or reflecting off of the screen. This is solved by using a straw or a small tube as a shade to limit the angle the light comes out. The dimming feature also helps. You can also use a colored plastic straw to change the color of the light.

The second problem is that if it is bent over your keyboard then it is very wobbly, especially if you move your laptop around. I solved this by attaching a clothespin to the end to act like a support. This solved the wobble problem even when I move the laptop around. I will probably make a more customized support but the experiment with the clothespin shows that a simple support at the end is all that is needed.

I think it is great, especially for the price. If you are willing to add a little support at the end and add a shade then it becomes nearly perfect. If you don't move your laptop around then the support may not be needed.

Junk. Worked the first time I plugged it in. That was the only time. Next time I plugged it in it stayed on and wouldn't turn off. Unpluggled and plugged in a third time, wouldn't turn on, then flashed on and off once and that was the end of it. I noticed that it was very hot near the on/off button.

My MacBook Pro has an illuminated keyboard, which is excellent for night work. But my Window PC notebook has a regular keyboard, and for late night work when one has tired eyes, keyboard errors become frequent.

Enter the Mudder Portable USB Flexible Stick Dimmable Touch Switch LED White Light Lamp for Laptop Computer PC, which has proven to be a good solution for this keyboard error problem for over nine months as of the date of this review. It plugs into any available USB port, and has a bendable, flexible neck that is about 10" long, so you can position it where it will best illuminate your keyboard. The stick portion is just a bit over 5¾-inches long, which seems to be sufficient for lighting the keyboard on my 17-inch notebook.

This light stick has 10-LED bulbs for maximum illumination, about 80 lumens according to the manufacturer, which is sufficient for lighting the keyboard. If it's too bright, just touch the small, white logo button on the end of the stick, and you can dim it to your personal preference.

I also own the Goal Zero 14101 Luna USB LED Stick Light, which has been in service for about three years. So how do the two compare? In truth I'm subjectively on the fence, as they are about equal in quality of illumination and construction. The disadvantage to the Goal Zero stick light is in that it is not dimmable, unless you take a length of a plastic drinking straw and slip it over the end of the stick.
