I have this and the 3M LX550. They are exactly the same design, and this one is a little more than $10 cheaper.

What I like:
- It raises the laptop display to eye level. You will need a separate keyboard and mouse.)
- The curved design helps air flow to the laptop fan
- It's been stable, and has not damaged my desk top

Minor dislikes:
- The place in the back to thread through cables is not particularly useful.
- The packaging and instructions were not in English. Because I already had the 3M stand, I knew how to put it together, (not rocket science,) but if I didn't know the layout, the picture with Korean text would have bugged me.

My laptop is big - 17 inch display. I have not had the problems described by the previous reviewer.

I have a convertible hybrid laptop the Acer R7-578. It is unique with the different positions it can be put in such as tablet mode or presentation mode. I use it as my main workstation connected to two external monitors. But due to the operating system I cannot place the laptop in presentation mode with the external monitors since the display ends up upside down on the monitors. It only works in tablet mode. Thus my search for a laptop/tablet stand began. This led me to both the 3M LX550 and the Actto Easy Eye Notebook stand # NBS-03S. Both of these look similar and I decided to get the Actto stand since 1- it was cheaper in price and 2-the 3M one was not available at the time.

I ordered it and it arrived quickly. It was packaged in plastic that was next to impossible to open unless you have a utility knife. The instructions are not in English but the images look simple enough so I put it together. Or so I thought.

As you can see in the provided images, I originally attached the base backwards. It still works and holds the laptop fine and even sets the laptop in tablet mode a bit of a 90 degree angle. It wasn't until I decided to take a few more images for the review that I noticed I had put it together backwards. The stand has numerous rubber sections that prevent the stand from slipping and actually holds my laptop in tablet mode very well.

After a few days with the stand...
The Pros...
1-Works as advertise.
2-While it really is designed to place your laptops bottom on the stand thereby having the display part much higher at eye level, I use it for my laptop in tablet mode and it still is at a good viewing angle and saves plenty of space on my desk.

This item works exactly as intended. I now have my laptop screen at level with my large monitor, and it is stable and secure. Keep the box; the instructions are not in English but with a little comparison to the picture on the box, this is simple to assemble. I have a smaller laptop (13 inch) and there is more than enough "lip" to hold it.

Matching the price, the build quality ( plastic and rubber ) feels cheap but acceptable. Its not bad at all for the price. My unit was a tad little defective... the Rubber padding on which the laptop front rests was a little off its right edge ( its supposed to sit snug with the plastic, but it was jutting out a bit - about an mm ). Although, its not affecting the functioning of the device, but every time I keep my laptop on the riser, I try to make the rubber sit right and fail.

Other than that, it works perfectly fine with my sony 17 inch big laptop.

Great solution for what I was looking to accomplish! I purchased an external monitor and keyboard for my laptop wishing to create a work station for myself, wife and daughter. We all use laptops, and rather than set up a desktop solution, I bought a terrific monitor and external keyboard. I set each laptop's power saving feature to continue to run when the lid is closed when plugged into an external AC source. But what to do with the laptop when everything is hooked up?

I am using a simple desk without a keyboard drawer. That's where this guy comes in. We simply set our laptop in a vertical position on the stand, plug in the charging cable, blue tooth mouse, keyboard and monitor and voila! Easy workstation!

The stand is easy to assemble and ours came with English directions to assemble, although a three year old could figure this out with ease. Only two parts and one screw, which can be tightened by hand because it is inset into a plastic knob. Adjusts well from nearly flat to nearly vertical. Rubber feet and rubber along the bottom to cushion the laptop, and across the top.

The only thing to knit-pick is the color. Wish it was all a basic black, but that is a small, small issue indeed. All around great product for the price.

It's been around a year since I bought the Actto laptop stand/riser, and I must say that I'm still completely satisfied. The largest benefits that the stand provides me are the venting assistance, posture correction/comfort, and ease of use.

+Venting Assistance:
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad-T430 laptop, which has emits incredibly loud fan noise when it gets too warm--this laptop stand helps my laptop vent much better than a normal stand or lack thereof. As a result, my laptop doesn't have to work nearly as hard as it used to, and doesn't sound like a hairdryer blowing all the time anymore.

+Posture correction/comfort
The stand lets me position my laptop almost completely vertical so that it can be aligned with my eye-level. This has helped my terrible posture, as I don't have to curve my body to look down at a laptop screen anymore. Also, the rubber grip on the bottom ledge holds my laptop so well that I never have to worry about it ever budging. I suspect it'd still hold fast in a minor earthquake.

+Ease of use
The stand is incredibly easy to use: just screw it together by hand, adjust to your tastes, and then tighten it by hand. This makes it very easy to transport, for example.
