Built Rugged and Durable for Education
The N21 Chromebook is drop resistant from up to 2.3 feet to withstand accidental drops and bumps. It has reinforced ports, hinges and corners to prevent objects getting stuck and damaging the system. Along with anti-peel keys on a water resistant keyboard to prevent liquids from contacting the electronics. As well as Fanless design eliminates the need for bottom vents which helps keep debris away from the system components.

Continuing Innovation for Education
The N21 Chromebook features a rotatable camera that gives students the ability to record images and videos for later reference. Also the anti-glare screen produces less reflection, reducing eyestrain. As well as retractable handles makes it easier to carry and less likely to be dropped and TPM 1.2 and 2.0 for additional security.

Incredible Buy

The spouse purchased this for me to replace my failing Cr-48 Chromebook. After spending several weeks with it, I am very impressed with this little computer. It is ridiculously fast and very efficient with battery power. I went with 4GB of RAM because my previous Chromebook only had 2GB, and it was a little pokey. The extra RAM in this model is well worth it. Pages load fast. The thing boots within seconds. It wakes from sleep before I even get the lid all the way open.

On one hand, I miss some of the keys of a traditional keyboard, such as the Page Up/Down and Home and End, but these keys can (in most cases) be replicated with key combinations (like Alt + Down for Page Down). It ends up being an acceptable compromise in the end, as the tradeoff is a full-sized keyboard on a laptop not quite the width of my lap. Speaking of which, the keyboard if Chicklet-style, very smooth and responsive, and typical of a Lenovo keyboard, which I love.

When Chromebooks first came out, they had issues with touchpads. The N21 seems to have left those problems behind. I find the touchpad responsive, accurate, and somehow, I don't have the issues with accidental tap-to-clicks that I usually have with Windows computers.

Other nice little features are the camera on a swivel so that it can be pointed away. There is a handle built into the hinge that makes it easier to carry, though the thing is so small and light and thin that it tucks into the hand quite well as it is. With around 7 hours of battery life, it is a nice computer to take out on the go, as long as one is going to be in the presence of WiFi.

The only drawback to this computer is the plasticy feel to it.Read more ›

This chromebook is great. Don't expect great speakers or a 1080p HD screen, but it is far superior to many chromebooks on the market. This chromebook has enough RAM and a good enough processor to load anything you can throw at it and load it fast. The rotating camera seems a little cheap, but I didn't expect a high end product at this price point. You won't be disappointed with this product as long as you aren't expecting a great display or great speakers.

Excellent value and terrific build quality

I have tried a number of different Chromebooks. I think they make excellent daily computers for note taking, web surfing, document creation etc.; if you have specific special use requirements like video editing or heavy photo editing, or if you are inescapably tied to a particular software program not available on the Chromebook, they may not be for you. But for speed, ease of use, security, and economy I do not think that Chromebooks can be beat. That said, the Lenovo N21 may be the best Chromebook I have tried, and at $169 from Computer Upgrade King through Amazon, I feel like I got a steal. The build quality is excellent; the track-pad is particularly good; the keyboard, while not of Thinkpad caliber, may be the best I have seen on a Chromebook, and the screen is excellent (it is matte, by the way, which I particularly like but which you might not). I have not had the good fortune to try a Pixel, but I have tried most of the others. If you are interested in a Chromebook, and this offer is still available, I strongly recommend the N21. I don't think there is a better value out there.

Superior quality for the price

I bought this unit to avoid banging up my more expensive laptops on the road, and the Lenovo Chromebook fills that niche well. If you are new to the Chromebook concept, it takes a while to get used to the limitations of the Chrome OS. Because there is no hard drive or onboard storage, the Chromebook must be online to function. The tradeoff is long battery life (8 hours or so) and virtually an instant boot. And you are limited to using Google online products, much like iPad users are limited to using Apple stuff.

Despite the small size, the keyboard has a nice feel, but the lack of a delete key takes some getting used to, especially since the power button sits in its traditional spot. While the Lenovo Chromebook is constructed of lightweight plastic, it is amazingly sturdy. The screen isn't the best, but it's better than I expected in such an inexpensive machine. The unit includes an HD port that allows you to hook it up to larger screens or an overhead projector, and the video quality on the external screen is excellent. The unit also features a USB 3 port in addition to one standard USB 2.

CONCLUSION: Whether you are on a tight budget or just want a knock-about laptop that's inexpensive and durable, the Lenovo Chromebook is a viable solution. Those of us who own higher-end machines will immediately see the limitations, but dollar for dollar, this is one of the best tech purchases I've ever made.
