It's slim alright... and comfortable.

This is a review of the Decode Slim laptop backpack. I was provided with a free sample for evaluation.

This is very slim which makes it a great laptop bag since that is it's primary purpose. Even though it's slim there are a multitude of pockets, slots and zippered compartments inside for storing and organizing a lot of paper and stuff. There is even a padded slot that is perfect for a tablet and a somewhat oddly placed zippered "security pocket" underneath the lower back pad. Don't expect to be able to put in larger volume type things in this backpack... it is a slim backpack after all.

I can get my 15" MacBook Pro in this pack with ease. It's padded just enough that I feel it's safe.

There is also a carry handle in case you'd rather just grab this and go rather than sling it on your back. However if you do grab and go, there's no real way to secure the shoulder straps so they sort of flop around.

Unfortunately there is no storage space on the outside of the backpack to accommodate a water bottle.

Understated pack that offers comfort and safety

First, I did receive this laptop bag free for the purpose of testing and review. While I realize that a review of a free product is fundamentally different from that of a product for which one has paid, I do take the review process seriously and am hopeful that my impressions and observations will prove helpful to you in your decision making. Feel free to post any questions you might have in the comments section and I'll do my best to answer based on my own experience with the pack.

What you're getting with this order:
(1) Laptop backpack

What is this thing and how is it different from a regular backpack?:
This is a dedicated laptop pack, and has several features that a regular day pack does not incorporate that may add comfort to the transport of your laptop and an element of protection as well. Designed for laptops up to 15.6", this pack features a compartment with ample padding on both sides and a soft lining that won't scuff or scratch. While this design is thing, being mainly designed for the laptop, there is also room for extras as I'll discuss below. The pack is made of a polyester that feels quite durable and is advertised as water resistant. Even the zippers are hidden and offer another level of protection from water.

Performance:
The pack is well designed and definitely warrants a serious look from anyone in the market for a laptop bag. It offers 3 important elements: function, durability and style and I'll discuss each of these in a bit more detail.

Function: The pack's main feature is a dedicated laptop pocket in its main compartment. Both sides of this pocket are padded and will offer protection in transit from bumps and other such trauma.Read more ›

This is a great little bag. It is slim in design. Not big like other laptop bags. It has become my daily bag for commutes to work. Perfect for the items I use daily. Really like the hidden pocket in the back. Most people would not realize it was a pocket by just looking.

Best Looking Backpack for Business / Great for All Your Gear But Nothing More

I have always used backpacks for business and for my laptops and this is probably the finest looking pack that I have ever owned. The closest thing (nowhere near as polished a look and smaller) is this Core Laptop pack from Belkin Belkin Core Laptop Backpack (Pitch Black/Soft Gray) fits up to 15.6-Inch laptops which apparently became such a cult item that it's now up to $159.

How Big A Laptop?
While the Decode bag won't quite fit my largest Tosh 18" gaming machine, it can handle my 15" x 9.75" x 0.78" HP Omen with room to spare -- the inside of the main compartment measures about 16.5" tall and 11.25" across and 2" thick. So it should accept anything except latops with the largest 17-18" screens. The bottom of the main compartment is thickly padded and there's the usual separate sleeve for a tablet.

Takes All the Gear
As others have noted this is a slim bag not suitable for stuffing full of files or documents but if you carry a laptop, tablet, phone, chargers, cables, earbuds, pens, bizcards and a small notebook -- it will all fit without over-stuffing the bag or putting pressure on the zippers. The bag is tall enough so you can tuck power brick(s) at the bottom of the main compartment and still have room on top for a 15" laptop.

Water Resistance
I have a truly waterproof backpack for kayaking and while the zippers on this have a similar look, I'd consider them water (rain) resistant by comparison -- not immersion proof. The water repellent outer skin is similarly good at shedding rain.Read more ›

Good when wearing a suit!

It looks good especially when you are wearing a suit. Honestly it was a little bit disappointed because it looked a bit less than the above photo. I gave this as a gift for my friend, and he was very very satisfied with this.
