This is an amazingly well built case. Excellent material and great lining and perfectly fits my surface pro 3 with the keyboard. The front pouch will hold the pen and quite a few other things and I'm fairly confident it provides good protection. I still wouldn't drop it on concrete if you can avoid it but it will protect it in a bag quite well. I can say I wish they would put a pen specific holder on these cases but you can't have everything. The colors are great too!
