Not Just for a Laptop Extension Stand!!!

"As all my items purchased here on Amazon it arrived before time or on the estimated time. The item is as sturdy and durable as described and this item here is by far one of my best purchases based on expectations. The item is designed to hold laptops that conveniently hover over the side or over your desk. For me I am using it for its function but not for its sole purpose (to hold your Laptops). I am using it to hold my Native Instruments Maschine MK2 ( [...] )in my music studio. The item works and fits perfectly for my drum Maschine. When I'm not using the maschine its so convenient to just swivel it out the way and move on to playing with other toys in the studio or move it back to me when I need it.
The Maschine fits perfect on the stand and I didn't have to use the rubber toe grips that came with it to keep the Maschine on the stand. The Maschine sits firmly on the stand, it's durability is excellent and doesn't move when I start pounding on the pads to make beats.
I strongly recommend this product to all those small studio Kats that don't have a lot of space for all their equipment.
Hopefully this will be of help to someone.

Awesome Notebook Stand

I was looking for a notebook stand so I could use my MacBook Air next my Thunderbolt display. I wanted the notebook at the right height when using both displays. I looked at many, many stands here on Amazon. Some were innovative, and some quite expensive. Then I saw this.

The beauty of this type of stand is that it floats the notebook above the desk. My desk is only 56 inches wide and I wanted to put a 23-inch monitor, keyboard, etc. for my Windows machine on the left; the Thunderbolt display and a keyboard in the middle; and the MB Air and mouse on the right. With this type of stand the Air can float slightly over the edge of the desk. (I'll try uploading a photo.)

As other reviewers have pointed out this is a very heavy-duty product. It contains a lot of steel, hidden under a semi-gloss black finish (I'm guessing powder coat). Examining the product it was apparent to me that this is an old monitor stand design, updated with a tilting swivel head to attach the platform to the arm. Remember glass-tube monitors? A 17-inch might weigh 40 or 50 pounds. This stand is designed to handle that sort of weight. Of course you would *not* want a tilting head with a glass-tube monitor sitting on the platform.

The platform features a pull-out keyboard mount (that heavy chrome thingie on the front of the platform)--useful for glass-tube monitor application, not so useful for a notebook. I taped mine back so it wouldn't slide out (it's kind of loose). But I'm thinking of just tossing it in the recycling.

One reviewer had a problem with the clamp not holding. That was a concern of mine based on past experience with other desk clamps. I had thought to screw the base to the side of my desk, but the clamp fit on the back (where there's a lip) and so I used the clamp.Read more ›

Simply Awsome and Sturdy!!!

I've been looking for a Notebook Stand for long time so my friend told me about the stand he purchased 2 years ago and how he loves it.

I am so glad that I purchased this item, it is high-quality and has a great design. The stand is quite sturdy handled my 20" laptop with ease. The arm is easy to adjust to so many positions, once you tighten the bolt it stays where it's put. The stand floats above the desk allowing me usable space underneath.

Easily assembled it only took me a few minutes to put it together.

To top it all off my neck pains are gone thanks to the elevation. It saved my life!.

With the quality design and a hard to beat price, believe me you will not be disappointed!

A few things you should know

There are only two things wrong with this item but they're potentially a deal breaker. One: The tray is made for the old square laptops so widescreen laptops (except maybe netbooks) will hang over the side. Two: The main lip at the front of the tray (designed to keep the laptop from sliding off) is too short and slanted to secure your laptop when the tray is at any kind of angle. The product *does* come with some rubber 'feet' to stick on the tray and create friction, but I ended up duct taping a sheet of rubber mat to the whole tray so I wouldn't have to worry about my laptop ending up on the floor.

If the tray were wider and the lip were taller and at a steeper angle, it would be perfect. Wait... not quite. Also there's a slide-out keyboard tray (also great for a wacom tablet) that isn't secured at all so it slides out on its own if the tray isn't horizontal.

For ~$60 I'm happy.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT

Review based on 18 months of use in 2011-2012. This is an excellent choice and good value for the money. It is very sturdy, reliable, easy to set up, visually appealing, and provides flexible uses. I have purchased three(3) of these extension stands (332B Notebook/Laptop Extension Stands Desk Clamp; via the Amazon seller OutletPC) in the last 18 months (all separate orders). The first order was based on the seller's description, cost, and other customer reviews (thank you to everyone who took the time to post a review and update their reviews). The second two orders were because I was so pleased with the product quality, uses versatility, and reasonable cost (the 3rd was less money than my original purchase). I am using these for (1)my laptop, (2)my 4-line desktop phone, and (3)as a heavy duty reference book holder that extends over my desk area so I can see the book and type comfortably without leaning forward.

This is a pretty solid stand

This is a pretty solid stand. The base plate could use a bit more padding to protect the shell of your laptop...but overall, its really good.
