This is a perfect backpack

1. it's adorable (I have gotten so many compliments!)

2. The interior pockets are incredibly well-thought out--I can fit way more stuff in this backpack than my old backpack of comparable size.

3. I'm in law school, so I carry a lot of heavy textbooks. The straps are nicely designed and the weight is distributed well.

4. A note on the laptop compartment--I have a Macbook Air, and since the laptop compartment is designed to hold up to a 17'' desktop replacement, I do sometimes worry about it sloshing around in there. I usually put a textbook in there too, so that the laptop won't move. One really big positive : the laptop compartment is extremely well padded, especially on the bottom. There's at least an inch or two of sturdy-feeling foam material on the bottom, which is good, because in my opinion the biggest risk to laptops in backpacks is when people unthinkingly bang their bags down (like I do all of the time).

5. The waterbottle pockets are big enough to hold a very wide waterbottle ( I have a 32oz Nalgene). If you have the bag packed full, you probably won't be able to use both pockets, but I can always use at least one.

Holds SO much stuff!!!

I have utilized this backpack on a daily basis for the last 6 months. I absolutely love it and couldn't recommend it more! I love that it is feminine AND functional. The polka dot lining is so much fun!

My favorite thing is how much the backpack holds. Being a technology teacher, I have a TON of mobile technology. I don't carry textbooks or binders often, so I'm not taking up space with those things. But, I'm able to carry ALL of the following at the same time:

• 15.6" Lenovo Laptop (in the designated laptop pocket sleeve) + charger
• 15" MacBook Pro (no protective case) + charger & Mac extension cord
• iPad (no case) + charger
• Chromebook (no case) + charger
• 8.5 x 11 spiral notebook/planner
• 5 x 7 spiral notepad
• Mac Wireless Keyboard
• Wireless Mice (x3)
• Portable Hard Drives (x2)
• Random Cables (x5)
• Earbuds
• Pens & Pencils

The back zippered compartment is the laptop compartment. I was originally concerned that only the laptop sleeve inside this pocket would have cushioning on the bottom. But, the ENTIRE back pocket has lots of bottom cushioning. This makes me feel comfortable putting all four of the devices listed above in this pocket. Please note, that with this many devices it is a tight squeeze. I don't carry them all every day, but there are days (like today) where I need to carry them all. With all of that said, I DO carry both laptops every single day and they both fit without any problems.

Slimness takes away from capacity

I gave this 5 stars because its a great backpack. With lots of little pockets. Plus padded pockets for an ipad and a laptop. However, I'm a nursing student and have to carry lots of binders and books. I previously owned an Ogio that I had used for 3 years every semester. This backpack doesn't hold as much as the previous one. So now I have different backpacks for different classes. All in all its a great bag. It's cute and stylish. Recommended to hold 4 large books, ipad, laptop, and accessories.

17" laptop space info.

I ordered this backpack because it's functional and stylish. I took a risk since the reviews on the fit of laptops is a bit mis-leading. I have a 17.3" HP laptop with the extended battery. There is a bottom cushion in the laptop section of the bag that is removable. If you remove this cushion a 17" lap top does fit. The down side is you don't have the extra cushion. The upside is the back of the bag is cushioned and the bottom of the bag has a thin layer of cushioning. As long as, your not slamming down your backpack on the floor, taking the extra square cushion out shouldn't make a difference. The cushion itself is 2" so a 15" computer should fit without any problems. Note also that 17" bags will not fit into the sleeve inside the laptop section of the bag, however your laptop will fit and be secure without it.
The backpack itself is well constructed. At first glance it doesn't seem that large, however I am able to fit my laptop, a very full 1.5 inch binder, notebook, 2 books and my kindle in the bag. There is plenty of functional storage pockets and the charger pocket is a nice addition since it's placed at the top of the bag. This placement allows for room of your other items, by taking up space at the top of the bag that usually goes un-utilized.
The reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the bag is rounded at the top. If they had squared off the top of the bag it would fit 17" lap tops more efficiently. Note to OGIO laptops are square not round. I also think that if the bag was squared off the 17" laptops would fit without removing the cushion. The other issue I have is that when the bag is full the outer water bottle pockets do not stretch to accommodate water bottles.Read more ›
