Toughbook is a very appropriate name for these durable machines

I use the CF-53 for business. Specifically I use a lot of them, about 2 dozen separate units a year. I get these machines from the company providing the products I sell so my field agents can have a tough durable system on sales calls. As a result of this kind of use the machines get hit, bumped, manhandled, and generally abused in ways that your personal laptop won't ever be. And they keep powering on every single time despite all that.

░░░░░THE GOOD░░░░░

❖ The screen has solid clarity. I can't speak to how good it would be for watching videos or playing games because my uses for it are 100% data entry, and you shouldn't be looking at this machine if that's your intended use.

❖ Portability. The handle built directly into the chassis of the machine certainly make it portable. I don't know how often someone carries just a computer with no cord or other accessories, but if you need to you can. It's not very heavy either. It's not a MacBook Air by any means, but it's light enough that it's not going to drag you down.

❖ The keyboard is full sized and easy to type on.

❖ The system can handle whatever customer software I throw at it without bogging down. With my line of work the customer is often discussing multiple products with various different sales tools that need to be installed on the machines in addition to the software that comes from the vendor who rents these to me. Thus far I've not been able to find anything this machine can't handle. And some of that software can get resource intensive.

❖ It's bulky. Not too bad in terms of length and width, but it's over an inch thick. But that's the trade off for durability.Read more ›
