Poor construction, great appearance

Very poorly made. While this bag looked very good in the pictures and in person when I first received it, it started coming apart after 4 uses, one day taken as a briefcase on a one-day plane trip and three days carrying a few small books in college.

-I've had to replace the strap already which, because it was made from several pieces of leather that were sewn together rather than one long piece, has already started stretching and splitting apart at it's stitch seams without the bag even being very full or weighed down.

-The general construction of the bag is not very sturdy either, with the whole of it buckling inward from any books weighing it down due to there being not much in the way of overall support.

-Do not use the handle at the top as it will force its single closure strap to bear all the weight of the bag and will stretch, and eventually tear, the buckle holes.

It's a shame really, because I really liked (and still like) the appearance and layout of the bag. With just a few design changes with respect to the materials it's made of would make it a great bag. But, for the price, it's unfortunately a very poor piece of work.

I openned the box to find the bag wrapped in a brightly colored silk/rayon type bag with a tie.... Bonus 1

Then pulled out the bag to find many pockets and super sturdy canvas deviders/liner inside... Bonus 2

The zippers were metal and rivets were tight and well connected... Bonus 3

The stitching is tightly sewn with heavy nylon style opphulstry thread and trimmed so there were NO straggler dangle strings hanging off.... Bonus 4

The leather is oiled well with the fresh smell of tanning fluid, but not overwhelming or dripping..... Bonus 5

The hand signed note inside explains that the Bag was hand crafted and will patina over the next few weeks as the tanning process finishes up..... Bonus 6

I asked my wife how much she thought I paid and she responded... "$350"

Stop looking, this is it!

komal leather is top notch. It is thick, well made, but not too heavy. The bag is large (if you are looking for a smaller bag, komal makes it). To put it into perspective, I stand at few inches over 6ft. When I go on business trips, in this bag I can place my brick of a computer 18", files and documents, and two days of clothing in the bag. It is more than nice enough to hold its own in a board room.

The customer service is excellent as well. This bag comes with a letter from the craftsman, komal. It explains how to care for the bag and tell a bit about the company, passionleather.

Things to know:
-The bag is large.
-the strap runs long (I am planning on putting two more holes in the strap to tighten it up)

If you are looking for a durable rugged bag this is for you. If you want a bag that performs in the business world, you have found your bag. If you stand 5'3", find a different bag from komal.

Summery:
For the price you can not buy a better leather messenger bag. This bag could very well sell for $100 more based on its quality and construction.

Great case for even the largest gaming laptops, extra-tall shoulder strap

I've been looking for a case for my Asus G75 (17.3", but as wide as an 18.4") for some time, but the only options have been either in the $500 range, or horrible nylon-and-foam monstrosities. I came across this and figured I had little to lose even if it turned out to be poor quality.

I was thrilled to find that not only did it fit my laptop with room to spare, but it was every bit as high-quality as I could've hoped. I almost spent $450 on a leather-and-nylon briefcase in the mall that I don't think would've lasted as long as this will.

Everything about it is either two-ply goatskin or goatskin lined with heavy cotton canvas.

The only caveats are: the strap is extra-long (a boon for tall buyers, but I had to punch extra holes for the buckle just to have it not slapping my knee as I walked), and it's not padded (If, like me, you keep your laptop in a padded sleeve anyway, it won't be a concern).

Looks nice but not for real work use

Though it is visually nice, its just not functional. I bought it for my husband because it was large enough to hold his 17 in laptop. The primary problem is the bag is folding on the sides due to the weight of the content. Its just not structurally sound to hold a lot of stuff. Now the leather near the straps is wrinkly. The second problem is the strap. Its really not designed for comfort. If you have too much stuff in it, the strap will dig into your shoulder. Lastly, the flap. You have to buckle it in to close it which means its an ordeal to get in and out of it, not to mention scratching the leather. Overall, it

Bag was shipped and received in a reasonable amount of time. Seems to be a quality product. I purchased this as a gift for a college student. She was very pleased with it. The leather is very nice, a somewhat aged look to it and a pleasant smell.The hardware and attachments seem strong and durable, only time will tell. Plenty of room and compartments. Should hold a laptop or tote several books easily.
