After actually needing one of these I looked locally and could only find an inflexible one at close to $30. So off to Amazon. This thing is VERY nicely constructed. Metal flex tube and LED housing appear to be very tough. The LED end of the flex has a simple headphone like plug / jack to allow you break it down for transport and rotate the light to get the best angle. (As the info stated it is NOT a charger port!) It is intended to plug into a horizontal USB port and is a bit floppy if used in vertical port.

The one thing that prompted me to write this up is the On / Off switch. It seems like you wouldn't need instruction for something this simple, but, the power switch is on the very end of the light and is of the touch sensitive variety. This is noted in a very dark, grey on black, logo that is tough to see and the switch offers no feedback if not plugged in. So I spent 5 minutes thinking it was defective! (I'm not terribly bright at times LoL) Recomended!

Good little light, its got a slick design and very bright LEDs. Actually they are a bit too bright. It is very harsh light and the glare on the screen makes it hard on the eyes. It is difficult to find a good position for it where it is neither directly in your eyes or glaring off of your screen. We tried putting a strip of masking tape to put over the clear cover to diffuse it a bit and mellow the color of the light and it was still blinding. After 3 layers of tape the light is more comfortable. The other reviews are pretty spot on, eg, great design, solid construction, the touch sensitive on/off button is cool but the fit of the unit makes it feel a little unstable in the USB port. I suggest using something to diffuse its bright light, and pulling the light way up almost perpendicular to the keyboard, not directly over head like it shows in the pictures. If this unit had something like warmer white leds, a slide over diffuser, a narrower field of light projection and a more stable usb connector this would be a near perfect unit. I wouldn't say don't buy, just be aware of what the actual usage of the product might be like.

I have a owned several little lamps to light my keyboard and this by far is one of my favorite. The neck of the lamp is fairly tight and the lights inside of the tube are bright. In fact, too bright for me. However, I took some blue painters tape and put it over the lights and now it creates a soft blue glow that illuminates my keyboard without the glare reflecting off my screen or keyboard. I position the lamp so that as i look at the computer, the thin lamp appears between the lid and the base of the notebook - therefore it is not in the way of my view. The removeable lamp from the neck of the light is a plus for travel - which i do alot of. Highly recommend.

I took a chance on this little laptop light not really sure of what I was going to get, due to the lack of reviews and little supplied info, but it has more than exceeded my expectations. I LOVE every single thing about this light - the flexible arm; the elegant, clean, end-to-end slender design; the matte finish; and most of all, the frosted white light cover, softening what otherwise would be a harsh glare. It spreads the very bright LED light (10 lights in one row) across the keyboard perfectly with NO hot spots or shadows. It's fun too - the light turns on and off by simply touching the tip with your finger. If I had to make only one improvement to this product, it would be to have an option to dim the light, say, one touch to turn on at full power, another touch for the lower light setting, then another touch to turn off. But otherwise this is an excellent product, enjoyable to use and well worth the money. I highly recommend it!

This is an ingenious, well-built, bright little LED!

A word of advice with the flexible cord: When bending it to your desired position, tighter bends hold its position better than open bends. In other words, if you use open bends, particularly the first bend at the USB port, the light fixture will sag. (Just make sure that you don't bend it beyond the designed capabilities.) I get mine to hold its position well.

Now, a word of caution: The laptop computer they use in the display must be a mock-up, netbook or mini-laptop, because you may be hard-pressed to reach the center position as shown for a standard-size or gaming laptop. And if you use a powered cooling pad and plug it into one of its extra USB ports like I do, you really will be disappointed that it is not long enough to be centered over your display. I read up on it before buying it and knew what to expect, so I am sharing the same with you. This fact prompted me to give it 4 out of 5 stars, because I don't think the photo is representative of what most purchasers will experience unless they really read up on it before placing their order. But know this, it throws off enough light that illumination will not be an issue regardless of it being off-center. Some reviews complain it is too bright, but I like it just fine.

The light fixture at the end of the whip also rotates 360-degrees, which gives me greater control where the light shines. And the slick little touch-sensitive power switch at the end of the fixture is a nice touch.

Long story short, I recommend it for any computer user who sometimes work in low to no ambient light, or otherwise want or need more illumination.
