Great product, highly recommended

I was looking for a USB light to use with my PC laptop in a very dark environment when I found this little gem. I took a chance, and couldn't be more pleased. The 3 L.E.D.'s put out the exact right amount of light, without being offensive to anyone else nearby (a big consideration in my application). The flexible shaft is metal and stays where it's put, also very thin so it stays out of my visual field. It doesn't draw much power, so operating on battery power is no problem. 5 stars awarded for durability as I'm not particularly careful when storing it - usually its thrown loosely into my bag. I have used it for about 8 months now and recently purchased 5 more for friends and family. The price is right, and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Pretty good, with two annoyances (& mine arrived in silver)

I have several of these lights, from different companies. This one seems to work well (so far), with two caveats: awkward on/off switch & glaringly "bluish" hue. Also, if you are looking for a black one, the one I received is silver throughout, while the photos indicate it is black.

PROS:
- Longer Neck than most USB lights (neck seems to be of quality materials)
- Generally stays where you position it
- Works to light up a portion of the keyboard, etc, at night (for better ergonomics, I use a full-sized keyboard, under my laptop)
- has an on/off switch

CONS:
- on/off switch is tiny and not very easy to toggle (it's square, the size of a fruit fly, positioned just below the flexible neck, and requires some force to toggle it)
- the light has a "bluer" hue than other LEDs I own; it's not awful, but when compared, its not as "natural" of a light as it could be.
- the clear plastic over the bulbs is "bumped out" a bit in the center, more of a quality-control issue than an intentional design aspect.

Overall, if you are looking for a very basic light to leave "on" most of the time, or if your dexterity is such that you can overlook the itty-bitty on/off switch, this is a great light. If you plan to turn it off (often) after you use it, or are picky about light hues, then, while this will work, you may not be completely happy with it.

I have a 5-LED RiteLite (bought on Amazon), that gives off a more natural hue and the I/O switch is an easy push button on the endcap. While it's not perfect, either, I much prefer it to this light (not counting the brightness difference, due to increased LEDs)

Good Product

Good product at reasonable price. One big plus is it has an off/on switch, which most I've looked at do not, so when you don't need to use it, you don't have to pull it out of the USB socket in order to turn off. I would like the light spectrum to cover more of the keyboard, but that seems to be a problem with most USB lights and this one probably covers it a little better because of the shape and its flexibility. But it illuminates enough to do the job.

Works as claimed but needs better shade

This product does what it needs to do. It lights your keyboard well enough that you can see the keys when there is insufficient light in the room, and it seems to be reasonably well made. My only complaint is that the shade doesn't come down far enough over the lights. Consequently, it is just about impossible to find a position for the light that neither shines in your eyes nor reflects off of the computer screen.

I like its flexible and sturdy build though it needs a few improvements

Pros:

1) The led light's tail construction is perfectly(!) balanced between sufficient flexibility and strong fixation it in any position
2) This led light is small and sturdy which makes it very portable
3) USB powered.
4) Has a switch

Cons:

The main problem I have noticed so far with it is that in certain positions, the light reflects from the PC screen and makes it more difficult to read. Although from what I see this is a typical problem of any USB light in the market today. And of course the problem is quickly resolved if you repositioned the light in a particular way, and if your keyboard is not too shiny you will be able to work on your PC just fine.

However, I do think this neat led light might benefit greatly from the following design improvements

1) The diffusion of led lights should be increased
2) Adding another switch to regulate the brightness of the light would improve this product's ergonomics
3) Also removable/adjustable deflectors (sort of like "wing","blades") should be attached to the head of this led light to allow the user adjust them to ensure that the keyboard is lit but no light is reflected in the computer screen.

I think I will make the deflectors myself (from plastic similar to photographic film) and that will be all right, until I find an even better usb light that is. Other than that - good product.

By the way, HDE maintain their own web site with more products like this.

Con: light is barely bright enough to illuminate keys on laptop with low light, easily slips out of the usb port, doesn't lock tightly in.
