I have a heavy, 17" laptop. I can adjust it to my liking and very easy to work with. The best part is, I didn't even have to build anything! It was ready to go out of the box. I can only complain about the size of the mouse pad.

Also works as a sit/stand accessory.

Purchased as an experiment to see if it could accommodate just a keyboard and mouse platform to temporarily enable a sit/stand setup.on a regular desk. I also have an ergo pole mount that can hold one or two monitors. I am considering ordering a second unit for my laptop.

Of course the cooling fans are a little redundant but happy to report that the system is solid and almost perfect for this use. One minor issue is that a keyboard is a little too light to keep the unit from occasionally slipping on a desk. A simple remedy is to affix four small felt (or rubber) pads to the lower base legs to keep it from slipping.

Solid construction; versatile positioning options

This is a really nice laptop desk. The first thing that caught my eye was the construction quality. The table is metal and solid - no flexing at all, and built to take a pretty good pounding. The top has a "dimpled" finish that is stamped into the metal, so it's not something that will wear or fall off, like those stick-on pads.

It comes with a small side panel that can be hooked onto either side to use a mouse, trackball or other such device. It is also metal and very sturdy. It also has an adjustment knob so the extension can be tilted.

The desktop is about 16.5 inches wide and 11 inches deep (not including the extension, which is about 6.5 by 6 inches). It's a nice size for even a large laptop.

But what really sets this apart is the legs and how easy they are to configure. There are push-in buttons at the leg joints that allow the legs to be folded as needed. They click into place securely - no matter how much I jostled the table, the legs stayed firmly positioned where I put them.

On the downside, the legs are plastic. They are sturdy, but metal legs would have been wonderful.

The top has a raised lip on one side which is nice for holding the laptop if the table top is inclined. It also has a built-in dual fan to keep the heat down from the laptop. It runs off a USB port (cable is included). Unfortunately, it does not use a standard micro or mini USB input port on the fan but rather a pin-style port. This means you'll have to be sure to take the included cable along since you won't be able to make do with a standard USB cable.

The fans run very quietly. I didn't find the noise at all bothersome or even really noticeable. My laptop fan is actually louder than the desk fans.Read more ›

An update to my review: From 3 stars to 5 stars: Got to use the laptop stand in it's intended environment. It worked much better than I had anticipated. I had it extended up about 10" above the table and it had very little wobble. The folks at Pwr+ truly stand behind their products. The contacted me twice trying to make my purchase right. Will buy from PWR+ again.

The little mouse plate is easy to attach and adjust. That's what sealed the deal for me. Unfolds easily enough and locks in place well. The fans a very quite, but don't move a large volume of air. But after 15 minutes of use I noticed the hot air coming from my laptop vents wasn't as hot. The USB fan cable is long enough to reach most USB ports. This was a difficult buying decision for me. I liked the sturdiness of the laptop trays with four legs. They just seems too big and bulky. My only "con" is there is some side to side movement. Maybe only a 3/8." Just makes me nervous. The 3 stars is from the side to side movement and MY buying decision.

Using as a keyboard stand ... works very well

I'm using this to hold a keyboard while I stand at my desk. This is much less expensive alternative than buying one of the fancy standing desks. I have twin 24" monitors mounted on arms that are adjustable. I tilt the monitors up and use the tray to hold the keyboard while standing. For this purpose, I am very happy.

This tray is very solid ... not tippy. I would not stand on it, but I did press firmly on the mouse extension and there was no possibilty of tipping the tray.

The tray is easy to adjust. Each leg must be adjusted individually, but if you understand the mechanics, it is easy to work with. There is more than enough height available with these adjustable legs.

I have a very wide keyboard that slightly overhangs on the non-mouse-pad side. I would like this to be 20 inches wide, but I can live with that. I also wish the mouse pad was larger, but I can also live with that.

I wish there was a grippy material on the bottom of the legs. My desk is a shiny formica-like surface so the tray can slide. I've rolled a couple pieces of tape and stuck these on the bottom. That stops the movement completely. I found after a couple days, there is enough tape residue on the legs that I no longer need to do this.

Since I am using it for a keyboard, I do not need the USB powered fans. It would have been nice to not have the fans and pay a bit less, but I may remove the fans for use elsewhere.

Do not worry that this is a cheap piece of junk, It is well designed and solid. I highly recommend this.
