This review is for the black version (key lock, not combination lock)

In my video review, I show how this security cable looks and how to connect it to your PC or laptop. I also show that it will not work with a Macbook as the lock piece is too large to fit in. While this cable will not prevent someone with bolt cutters, it will dissuade most thieves as most people never even use any cable to protect theirs. This is a great cable lock for a low price, the cable basically has been compatible with all the devices that I have used and even comes with some velcro for you to hold it together.

1. The cable isn't thick, it is of a medium thickness when you are looking at laptop cables, it could be a bit thicker but it would be hard to hide for cable management.
2. I use this for my harddrive, you need to use the 2 keys that it comes with and unlock it then you can put it in the security slot and turn right and remove the key and boom it is locked.
3. There is a looped end on the other and, so you would need to loop this wire through a secure location before you lock it since you are unable to open the looped end as it is securely attached.
4. I wish there was a lock on the looped end so I can open and adjust the open space that is avaliable for the lock to use.
5. The lock is a grey color which is standard, I wish it was black so that it would be more discreet on my cable management.
6. The key hole runs smoothly and when attached to a pole on my room, the cable held up when I had pulled my drive ended up breaking the pole, thus this is just a deterrent as even though the cable is strong, the pole or whatever it is attached to can be broken.

In the end, this product works, the key is smooth and I didn't have any problems.

I did get this for evalution, but I can assure you I did test the product and my review is honest and unbiased.

Strong, Secure, and Easy

The cable is nice and long, over 6 feet and although not the thickest cable, there is no way anyone is going to break it by hand. If someone just wanted to do a quick grab, this wouldn't be possible without bolt cutters or hack saws or something to get through the cable. The cable is bendable enough so working it around furniture or whatever I anchor it to isn't a problem plus the coating on the cable protects from scratches. The lock is strong, fits into the kensington lock on my devices, and has two keys. (I must stress that your device needs the kensington lock for this to go into so check your owners manual or online to be sure your device does have one before buying). The looped end is strong and even where the cable meets to make the loop is encased in a plastic-like coating so it doesn't damage whatever I put it around. I am not sure how this loop is made but I can tell it is some type of pressured clamp that is extremely strong and won't come undone. I know I will feel a lot safer with this lock while at public hotspots since 'grab and run' is no longer an option for would-be thieves. It doesn't come with a manual but easy to figure out, just turn the lock so the 'pins' and tab make a straight line, fit this in the kensington lock on the device, turn the key to lock it in place. Simple, no hassle way to help keep my notebook safe.

Cost-Effective Computer Security

Securing a computer in public places is always important. There have been multiple instances, according to "Corporate and Incentive Travel Magazine," where a speaker has turned away from the lectern for a moment only to find that the computer he or she was using had quickly disappeared. Virtually all laptop computers have a security slot on a reinforced portion of the computer's case where this lock can be affixed. On my Dell, the slot is in the far right-hand corner behind the CAT-5 jack. That puts the lock in a place where it doesn't interfere with the operation of my computer or closing the lid.

This cable lock wouldn't stop someone with a hacksaw or bolt cutter and lots of time to use them, but this cable lock is sufficient to deter quick theft of a computer by anyone without those tools. Locks like this with circular keys are much more difficult to pick. This lock and security cable is sufficiently flexible and tough enough to stop all but the most determined, well-equipped thief yet is lightweight and handy to use. As a safety measure, if the lock is not in the locked position, the key cannot be removed. I also like the way the included Velcro strip keeps the cable neatly coiled when it's not in use.

I found that while the lock is attached to my computer there is sufficient swivel and flexibility where the cable is attached, so that I can move my computer to a comfortable position without having the lock and cable interfere. As with using any cable lock it's sometimes tricky trying to find a sufficiently anchored location to loop the cable, but with reasonable care, this lock provides an extra measure of security and protection for a reasonable cost and adds just 6 1/2 ounces of additional weight to my computer bag.
