Instructions For Use:
- If you are setting the combination for the first time, enter the preset combination 0-0-0-0.Then set your personal combination with the following steps.
- Locate the combination dials and windows on the Lock. Align the preset combination with the code contrapuntal line. Now the lock is in a state of opening.
- Using a small screwdriver or similar object, push it all the way into combination-reset button (as indicated by the arrow) till the next step is done.
- Rotate the dials to the combination you want and align it with the code contrapuntal line.
- Now release the combination-reset button and your new combination is set. Please record the new combination，just in case. If you want to reset the combination, just repeat the above four steps.

Great quality and price

Disclaimer: I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review and that is what you guys get.

While I was unboxing this product I noticed that the lock was a bit heavy and robust which I found good as it is not something that will break easily. The lock has a nice black metallic shine to it with the cable coated. It came with instructions and what appears to be some buttons, they are in fact covers for the lock, the part that makes contact with the laptop. I have attached a picture to demonstrate.

The instructions were nice, even gave me an idea of how to lock my laptop to my current desk although I had a similar idea to begging with. I have read reviews claiming that the instructions do not let you set up your own password but I was able to. All I did was set the default combination 0000, make sure they are the side where the latch is. Once you have the default password then unlock the lock via the latch and press the reset button while putting the new password. Now I guess this is the tricky part. I changed the password 4 times or more by accident because I couldn’t keep pressing and turning the dial, so what I did was set the numbers one at the time, as long as you don’t move anything before you press the reset button again the password will keep changing to whatever combination you set and that’s how I set up my password easily.

As for my current setup, it would be easier to break my desk and steal it than it would be to yank the lock off the computer. Overall since I have a home office anyway I think my setup will be safe but for those with offices elsewhere, this seems like a good alternative and a great price.

Poorly designed and hard to understand instructions

1) I purchased 2 of these locks

2) I'm very disappointed with this product, and the troubles started the moment I first read the lock's instructions. They are poorly written with hard to understand English and bad grammar.

3) The margin of error while setting your own lock combination is very low. The dials do not firmly lock (or click) into the so called "notching line" as you try to scroll them into place with your fingers, while having to press a sharp object into a small hole in the lock's end that allows for changing of the lock code. While changing the lock to your own combination, and inadvertently with a simple touch, you could so easily be outside of the "notching line" and set the wrong combination.

This happened with the 1st lock. Before releasing the sharp object from the hole at the lock's end, which is a step that finalizes changing the lock to your own code, I paused and carefully verified that I had in fact set the desired new lock code. However, when I scrambled the dials to test the new lock code, I could not get it to unlock to the code I had jut set. This means that one or more dials were slightly off the "notching line" when I believed I was selecting the correct combination but I was in fact slightly off, perhaps by as little as a millimeter of a turn, (I'll never know) but enough so that the lock had not registered the lock code that I selected. And all this while following instructions that were difficult to comprehend. This lock is now no good to me, despite trying to enter variations of combinations ever so slightly to the left and right of the combination that I thought I was selecting. Doesn't fit laptop, combination stopped working, broke off easily.

I set the combination and tried it on my projector and then it wouldn't unlock with the same combination but then it broke off with a bit of tension. It also didn't fit a Dell XPS 12 or 13.

Does it lessen your risk of theft, absolutely. Works great!

I travel a lot and have considered grabbing one of these before, but never have so I can't really compare this to any others. However, this lock worked fantastic for me. You must make sure your device has a built in standard security locking slot hole. There are many that do not, so check before you buy.

The cable is really long; measuring over 6 feet and it is also quite durable. This cable also comes with covers that go around the cable where it meets the laptop to avoid any damage to it.

It comes with clear instructions which I definitely appreciated since I had never used one before. If you follow the directions for setting the combination initially then you won't have any issues. Depending on where/how you set up your lock cable the chances that someone can grab it is slim to none. I used mine in a hotel when I was traveling so that when I was out of the hotel room I didn't have to worry about someone stealing my laptop. Could someone cut it, of course, if they have brought the right tools. Does it lessen your risk of theft, absolutely. Works great!

Security and Peace of Mind!

The very first thing that I noticed about this product was how well it is made. The feel of it is sturdy and strong, so I was impressed from the
beginning of this review. I don't know about you but I have a busy family and although we all have our own computers, Tablets, etc. it seems mine is always open market to be used when needed. I can't begin to tell you how frustrating that can be, especially when I lose Reviews, or important other things I am working on.
I was a little nervous that I would not know how to use this but I took my time, read instructions, went on the Website and I did just fine, and so will you. My daughter loved it. She is a Teacher and at her school all students have Laptops, and at times they do get messed with so this product would be a God sent for them. My main advice is to take your time setting it up and write things down so you remember. I get confused sometimes and this helps me. All in all this is a very good product for safety and security and I'm happy to recommend it. Product received for a honest review.
