A Solution to Lapbook Problems

This is the best product I have encountered in all my days of using a laptop. I use it with a wireless keyboard, and so the screen is up in my face where I can see it well, and the keyboard in down below where I can type easily without tiring my wrists. I am delighted with it all. The stand swivels, an advantage I was not expecting to care about, and find that I do. The swivel allows me to adjust to the incoming light for better vision. That might not make sense to users of lamps, but I have a skylight and so am accommodating to the sun all day long. The swivel changes everything.
Another plus is how sturdy the stand is. I have no fears of it turning over or dumping the laptop into my lap. It is clearly there to stay, and yet if I need to move it, that is easily accomplished. I tuck the entire thing behind closed doors most of the time when it is not in use, and that leaves my work space neat and tidy.
There is one final advantage. I am a coffee drinker, and I have always been worried about knocking my cup over into my computer. With the stand, my computer sits above the desk top where I put my coffee, and the keyboard is on s shell below and out of the way. I still prefer to drink rather than knock over my coffee, but, hey, why not have a measure of safety also.
I give this product a 10 star review if there is such a thing. It has been a real game changer for me, and now I am not regretting not purchasing a desktop machine. My laptop is absolutely perfect with this stand, and has the advantage that it goes with me when I travel.

Swivel base spins too easily

I like this stand a lot but ended up switching back to the non-swivel sibling stand. The swivel base rotates way too easily for my liking. I found myself frequently having to grab it and rotate it back into place. And I'm not a picky person but simply bumping the corner when reaching to grab a drink or plug in a power cable or something would cause the stand to spin a few degrees and end up with the laptop crooked. If the swivel base were more restricted or I think ideally it would have a little lock mechanism to secure it in place I think it would be great. That will probably be the next version :)

Everything else about the stand is great. It looks fantastic, especially with silver macbooks and it raises the laptop to a comfortable height, although I wish it could be adjusted or a little higher.

For Those Who Appreciate the Apple Stylings

This stand is excellent. I've been looking for a great stand for my 15" MacBook Pro so I can work on improving my posture. So far, I've found interesting things, but nothing that was quite what I was looking for. I'll admit I didn't have a specific goal in mind, but when I saw this stand I knew it was what I wanted. For someone who won't even put a case on their iPhone/iPad/MacBook because they don't want to mess with the look, this stand is perfect. The aluminum body and design really fits with the Apple laptops. It's very sleek, simple, and subtle. It looks a lot like an iMac or Apple Display base. As far as I can tell, the aluminum is the exact same color of my MBP so it looks like it belongs.

The stand feels very sturdy. I doubt it will have any issues with longevity - the only thing that might wear out is the swivel joint (looks like ball bearings). There's a hex-head screw holding it on, if any problems arise they might be fixed by removing it and tinkering around in there with some WD40. But I'm not expecting any issues. The rubber pads under the base and under the laptop are nice and don't look like they'll have any wear for quite some time. They hold the computer well but you can still shift it without lifting it up, which is nice. Really, this thing feels like it's built to last.

For those who really want to know how it'll feel, here are some measurements I made. The screen rises about 7" while the front of the keyboard rises about 3.25". This is about 36deg, which felt a bit weird at first, but it aligned my wrist with my arm so I'm guessing it'll be better in the long-run. I like that it makes the desktop footprint of my MBP a lot smaller (the base is 9.5" wide compared to the 14-5/16" base of my computer). That gives me a little more room on a tightly packed desk.

Overall, I'd say excellent stand. Rain really did well on this one.

Happily Supporting 15" Macbook Pro Retina

Originally I was skeptical about whether or not I wanted to spend the extra money on a swivel base; considering how useful and easy it is to utilize this feature, and how useful I've found it to be, I have zero regrets about this purchase. It provides very strong support to suspending the laptop in the air without worry of it tipping over, and the rubber pads are large enough to keep the laptop from being scratched by the metallic components of the stand. The feet are rubberized as well, sticking firmly to my wooden desktop surface. A thing to note however is that the base, while swiveling very smoothly, can be accidentally rotated if it comes into contact with an errant limb or wandering desktop cat.
It's at a very ergonomic height for viewing, though I've found myself utilizing a large wrist pad to eliminate strain on my elbows against the hard desk surface if I am typing directly onto my laptop's keyboard.
I cannot recommend this product enough for use with a 15" Macbook or laptop of comparable size.
