The Most Powerful Blade Ever

Preloaded with Windows 10

With the new Razer Blade and Windows 10, you can start from the desktop you've always known. Windows 10 is the best combination of Windows- with lots of similarities to Windows 7 including the Start menu. Get access to stunning DirectX 12 visuals while getting the most performance out of your Razer Blade. Also stream games from your Xbox One console right to your Blade.

Specification Highlights

  • Windows 10 Preloaded
  • 14-inch QHD+ Touchscreen display
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3GB VRAM
  • Intel Core i7-4720HQ
  • 512GB SSD
  • 16GB RAM
  • 0.70 Inches Thin

Performance

Intel Core i7 Quad-core Processor

The Intel Core i7-4720HQ processor, typically found in larger notebooks, gives the 14-inch Razer Blade 2.6GHz of quad-core processing power and Turbo Boost speeds, which automatically increases the speed of active cores, up to 3.6GHz. Thanks to Hyper-Threading technology, you’ll experience eight virtual cores for insane gaming performance.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M

The GeForce GTX 970M with 3GB GDDR5 VRAM is powered by the next-generation NVIDIA Maxwell architecture, which delivers blazing-fast performance, advanced graphics technologies, and improved power management. Now you can take on your PC games with faster, smoother gameplay at ultra-settings.

More Memory. Faster Storage.

The ultra-portable Razer Blade features 16 GB of fast 1600 MHz DDR3L memory and includes 256 GB solid-state storage. You’ll experience speeds of up to 4x faster than traditional notebook hard drives, so you can boot quicker and launch games faster.

Display

3200 X 1800 QHD+ Display

Razer Blade’s spectacular QHD+ display pumps out 5.76 million pixels for breathtaking clarity, hyper-realistic sharpness, and jaw-dropping color intensity. With so many beautiful pixels before your eyes, it becomes impossible to distinguish individual pixels. The 'screen door' artifacting of lower-resolution displays disappears, and what remains is the most visually stunning notebook display.

IGZO Technology

The Razer Blade’s state-of-the-art IGZO (Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide) display panel technology provides unmatched color and image quality. IGZO has a significantly faster propagation time than traditional a-Si TFT displays, improving video response for smooth motion video and immersive gameplay.

Wide Viewing Angle

The Razer Blade features a wide viewing angle with fast response time for smooth video and blur-free gaming. With amazing 350-nit high brightness from the LED backlight, the Razer Blade display is optimized for gaming wherever you go. The display delivers consistent, accurate color from a variety of vantage points. Colors are much more saturated, accurate, and consistent across the whole screen.

Design

Touch Point Thermal Engineering

The Razer Blade’s amazing performance is driven by the engineering principles of localized heating. Localized heating focuses on directing heat away from the main touch surfaces of the notebook, areas that can dissipate heat quickly and are not commonly touched by the users. At Razer, we have dedicated thermal engineers who use thermal sensors to test how warm each area of a notebook’s exterior gets during various workloads.

Our goal is not to get rid of heat altogether, but to keep it away from key touch points that come in contact with users. This allows the Blade to pack in the highest performance possible with NVIDIA GTX graphics in notebook that is thinner than a dime.

Thin and Powerful

Despite being the most powerful Blade ever we kept it incredibly thin at 0.70-inches. Designed for extreme performance on-the-go and gaming anywhere.

Harnessing so much power and performance in a compact design demands extreme attention to detail. The Razer Blade is crafted from precision cut CNC aluminum for unmatched design and durability.

Gaming Grade Keyboard

The Razer Blades keyboard is designed for hard-core gaming. The backlit anti-ghosting keyboard registers simultaneous key presses with precision. Personalize your layout with the ability to remap the keys and create macros.

Every detail of the new Razer Blade is considered including the software. Optimized for gaming, Razer does not load unnecessary bloatware commonly found on other computers.

Purchased this laptop two weeks ago and am very glad I did. Bought it direct from Razer since Amazon was OOS when the CC had enough room on it (missed it by a single day there). Laptop is super thin, light, and very powerful. Keyboard is super-responsive with great keys (as you would expect these days from a top shelf laptop). I also picked up an USB3 to GbE/USB3 hub so that I could connect to the LAN either at home or at work (for larger file transfers). I suspect that once I upgrade my home wifi to 802.11ac (at least dual band) I won't really need the GbE part.

Display on the laptop is the best I've ever seen. Great highlights and shadows on it, with a super-tight resolution to boot. It is a bit of an issue when an application doesn't accept the zoom level increase set in the OS (8.1 Pro after getting the Pro Pack upgrade). Luckily the list of those apps is short.

When I was looking for a new laptop, this was at the top of my list. Main reason was the processor and GPU inside. Not to mention how thin the laptop is, and it had the desired screen size (14"), Having a top notch trackpad centered on the laptop is also a big deal for me. I don't like trackpads that are off center. Even if they are centered under the space bar, it annoys me. If I'm dropping over 2 grand on a laptop, it shouldn't annoy me (at any level) from the start. Having the i7-4720HQ processor inside means (for me at least) a longer useful life span. At 2.6GHz per each core (4) and hyperthreading (8 logical cores) also means I'll not have any issues running things like VMware Workstation 11 (or newer). Knowing the processor can go up to 3.6GHz as needed is also a comfort. That way I shouldn't have any issues running the software I need/want to. 16GB of RAM also helps there.

My background:
I wanted this machine primarily as a working machine and not a gaming laptop since it is incredible powerful and the 14” display make it big enough to work on it (programming) and small enough for travel (I wish there were more 14” laptops!). Overall this looks like a very good alternative to a Macbook Pro 15” or a Dell Precision 3800 (both with dedicated GPU) or a Dell XPS 15.
Before buying I read a bunch of reviews and many people were complaining about stuff like the battery life, the trackpad keys or the glossy display (touchscreen version). Anyway, I wanted to paint my own picture since my use case may be different than the ones of many reviewers. My current machine is a 5 year old Toshiba Satelite R630 which is about to breath it’s last breath very soon. So an update came very handy and I did not mind a high price tag if quality and all my requirements are fulfilled.

New Razer Blade 14"
QHD+ Touchscreen
256GB SSD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M graphics
Price: 2399$

Pro:
+ Build quality: is outstanding, it feels like a raw piece of metal (heavy but also like it would never, ever break)
+ Display: Gorgeous, everything looks super sharp on the QHD+ display, adjusting the display with one finger is super easy and it stays exactly where you put it! I noticed reflections on the screen but not more than on any other glossy display. I did not work with it outside in the sun though.
+ Keyboard: I have never had a better typing experience. It feels better than the Macbook Air my wife is using (and 1000x better the one on my current machine :))
+ Trackpad: I really, really enjoyed the trackpad! It is very smooth and you don’t feel any friction.

I bought the Razer Blade because I wanted a sleek Windows laptop that was powerful enough for games development and gaming.
It was between the Razer Blade and Alienware but I opted for the Blade because of form factor.

While Razer have addressed the issue of hot surfaces from previous generation of the machine, the redesign comes at a price. The internal fans can spin up and be quite loud even when the machine isn't under load. The fans turn on and off as required so it isn't a constant noise and the machine can be almost silent for the majority of the time.

The touch screen is responsive, the keyboard well laid out and the performance is on par with my desktop machine meaning I can take my gaming and game development with me.

I am very, very happy with this Razer Blade laptop. Quite pleased, indeed!

I'm no "techie", nor a computer connoisseur; just an average internet surfer and video gaming enthusiast. My old computers (a 2009 high-end laptop and a mid-grade 2011 desktop) had begun to frustrate me with their outdated performance, and I began to look for something that would replace both of them.

There were several features I kept in mind as I began to browse online for new computers:

- Portability, as I travel at least 200 miles each week
- Plenty of RAM, to help ensure better performance and a longer lifespan
- A good graphics card, one that wouldn't likely be listed in the "minimum requirements" of game releases for years
- Solid construction, because I like to avoid using super glue and duct tape on things I own
- A touchscreen, so I can perhaps "draw" directly on the screen without using a USB pen + tablet combo for art

...And I think that was all. I didn't think I was asking for very much, but maybe I was: poking around on the internet didn't yield quite as many results as I'd initially expected. I picked the Razer Blade from a rather narrow field of candidates, keeping my fingers crossed in hopes that the price tag was worth it.

My expectations were met, and greatly surpassed. This thing is a total beast. It's very fast, the display is gorgeous, and it has a great feel to it. As I stated at the start of this review: I am very, very happy with this Razer Blade laptop. Quite pleased, indeed!

Yes, it can get rather hot when it's pushed to its limits.
