Love the bag, one small complaint...

I just received the bag, so I cannot speak as to its durability. However, a vertical bag is not easy to locate for this price.

FIT: I have a Dell laptop with a 17.3" display, my laptop measures 16.5" x 11.5" x 1.5" (not exact- just very close), this is a VERY tight fit length wise. At first I didn't think it would fit since it clearly stuck out the top when I placed into bag, but the top section zipped around without struggle. I do not believe a laptop any longer than mine would fit though. It should hold a laptop a little wider and thicker than mine. TAG ATTACHED GIVES FOLLOWING INSIDE DIMENSIONS: 11.75 X 16.5 X 2.25 ( looked everywhere for this information before I bought the bag, and couldn't find it anywhere online)

STORAGE: I like the simplicity of the bag. So many laptop bags give you lots of pockets and storage, but not everyone wants/needs that. This one seems to be just right for what I need. There are a few small pockets in the front zippered section (pens, cell phone, small notebook) plus a large zippered mesh pocket (I put my cords and wireless mouse here). The back pocket is perfect for a file folder. If you want a bag to carry the whole office, this is NOT it. If you want something compact, with a little storage room, this could be the bag for you.

CONSTRUCTION: Seems to be padded well, however I do have one small complaint. The zippered top section has a hard piece wrapped up in the cushioning, but the bottom does not. I wish the bottom of the bag also had the hard piece to help protect the laptop when you set the bag down. It does have slightly thicker padding on the bottom so hopefully the protection should be adequate.

I love this product! I ordered it regular shipping and it showed up in a few days shipped in a Express Box. Inside the neat packaging was a free drawstring bag that was worth twenty bucks by itself. However, the case I actually ordered was even better. Well designed with high grade material and ample padding. It fit like a glove on my 15.6" computer. I read on another review that the zippers were a little shrimpy but I feel that with a little care they will me perfect for the task at hand. Also on the back of the case there was a pocket perfect for notebooks or folders that I'm not sure was mentioned in the product description, but I like it.

slim & attactive

I really like this laptop bag. I have a Toshiba Satellite 15.6 inch laptop and fits inside the padded sleeve area perfectly and is retained by installed velco strap. Work areas inside provide enough for charger, cables and other accessories. I am concerned however that the zippers may not hold out. I did not pay much for the bag. I like the design. It has a handle and shoulder strap. This is not a backpack design but a shoulder carry design. I would have paid more for one like this built with stronger zippers...but this one is ok for now.

Perfect for me!

This case is WONDERFUL!! I have an HP laptop with a 17.3 screen and it fits in the bag JUST PERFECTLY! If my laptop were any bigger I would have problems though. There is a strap inside the bag to secure your laptop but it is an unnecessary feature for my laptop due to its size, it fits very snugly as if the case were made just for it. The front zipper is perfect for my charging cable, my bulky mouse and any other odds and ends I find myself toting along; as a teacher, I often find myself toting around a lot!

Good for a Acer V3

My new Acer V3 series fits in here alright, it's a bit of a tight squeeze length wise, but it fits. Overall the bag is nicely padded and provides good protection. The pouch in front is big enough to hold my (substantial) power supply, a wired mouse, a few cables, and an external HDD. Molle webbing works good for placing pens on also.

Nice quality, certainly not Maxpedition or Spec-Ops Gear, but good enough for a case to keep my laptop from bumps and dings.

Update:
Just a quick update on this. The stitching and the top handle both started to blow out at the one year mark. I contacted Sandpiper three times before I got a reply. When they did reply it took another two correspondences for them to finally decide that they would honor their warranty. I waited almost a month for one to ship, and after contacting Sandpiper again, was told that I needed to pay shipping for the replacement unit at the cost of around $30. Needless to say, I just spent the money on a different bag by Rothco, and have been happy ever since. Last Sandpiper product I will ever buy.

very good bag, unusual format, well-made, very fairly priced

Vertical laptop bags are in a minority, and most have a single zipper at the top, whereas as this bag's zipper wraps around three sides of the top so that the top opens completely. This is not important in a horizontal bag, since there is more area involved, but a boon for the vertical format. A velcro safety tab within the zippered part keeps the laptop from slipping out accidentally.
The accessory pouch expands generously and makes more sense than alloting a separate partition within the main part.
This is an intelligent and straight-forward bag, well-made, and modestly priced. One might quibble about the plastic clips on the shoulder strap, but these are pretty normal on laptop bags and not likely to snap under any normal use.
Very happy with it.
