Yes - This hard drive is compatible with the ps4. Installation of the hard drive was quick and easy, but I ran into many error messages(CE-30774-1) when reinitializing the firmware.
Here are a couple of tips I picked up from various websites while I contemplated throwing my "bricked" ps4 out the window..
1) Don't over tighten the screws holding the hard drive into the ps4. Too tight might cause an issue for some reason....
2) Make sure you are downloading the correct firmware(~707mb as of July 26, 2014) from the Playstation site.
3) Format your usb drive to FAT32. This is the default setting, but good to know...
4) Make sure to push the usb drive all the way into the ps4. I had to firmly push it in. This is also good to know...
5) When starting your ps4 in safe mode for the first time. Hold the power button down for 7 seconds and you'll hear two beeps. You'll see 7 options. You're selecting option "7".
6) If your ps4 doesn't work... Start over, reformat your usb drive, download the firmware, and use the other usb port when connecting to your ps4. This is actually what I endured after (3) unsuccessful attempts.
Hope this helped someone and not many people have the sam experience I had. On a side note, my friend could not get this hard drive to work on his ps4... He installed a 1.5tb hard drive and it worked first try...

First off guys let me tell you the problem I had and hopefully this will save you some time and headache. I install the drive with no problems! You don't have to be an expert to install this thing. Then it was time to install the firmware and this is where I had trouble. I found out from digging on line that there are two files one is just an update file and the other is a lager file that you use when you are replacing the harddrive. Both files can be found on sonys web site. I downloaded the lager file for the new harddrive and proceded to put the ps4 in safe mode for the firmware install. I scrolled down to the last options [initalize ps4(reinstall system software.) got an error saying 2.03 could not be found. I did some trouble shooting made sure the screws in the harddrive were not to tight , made sure the usb drive was fat32 formated, and made sure it was pused in all the way. After several attempts I was about to give up and send the drive back! I gave it one more try and did some more research online. Found this out to my suprize that the firmeware that was on Sonys site was out of date! This you will not know if you go to sonys page. I found the 2.03 file on reddit! You can get this file from Sony also if you contact them and have it emailed to you. After I got the correct file it worked like a charm! Since I installed the new drive my ps4 is on steroids! Got a nice performance boost and tons of storage!

This is a great hard drive, but with a steep price tag. This exact same hard drive can be found inside the Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB STDR2000101. Removal of the drive is quite simple for installation inside your notebook. Save $ and get a free case for your old drive...

Works perfectly for ps4, and the seller is great, i received it 3 days before the earliest estimated date! Keep in mind that if this is for ps4, youll need a usb drive to download the correct software, which is really easy, they have a step by step instructional on playstations website, and there are multiple videos on youtube.

Bought this for my PS4. It installed and runs great. Loading speeds have even improved. If you are looking for a new HD for a PS4 then I recommend this one.

There is 1766 GB available after you put it in. Standby mode works fine. I am still able to download items while in standby mode and even power on the PS4 with my phone while in standby.

This is a great hdd. Very quiet. I installed it in my PS4 and have had no problems whatsoever so far. I've read some people have had boot up issues with this drive in the PS4, but, I installed it with the 1.71 PS4 update and have had no issues with boot up from standby or cold boot. When installed the PS4 shows 1,761GB of available space.
