Handsome and Functional Backpack...

APPEARANCE
This is a handsome backpack. It has nice clean lines. Has no extraneous parts or external compartments. It is very professional looking. Wears very well with a sport coat and casual slacks.

The material and construction make this backpack look it it costs more than it does from Amazon. As a matter of fact, I could not find one that looks this good and makes me comfortable about placing an expensive laptop into and lugging it around the campus where I work.

QUALITY
The material is nice and sturdy. The stitching is neat--both inside and out--no fraying, etc. The stitches are doubled and the shoulder straps incorporate reinforcing design where most backpacks fail from heavy loads (near the bottom corners).

FUNCTIONALITY
Fits my 17.3 inch Toshiba Qosmio (7.6 lbs) with just the perfect amount of space left over for the Qosmio's unusually large power brick (1.9 lbs). There is enough room in the second large compartment for an iPad, a padfolio/portfolio, and my Bose headphones.

Front and back padding give me peace of mind that my laptop is well-protected topside and underside. However, I am cautious when setting my full backpack down. I wish the bottom of the backpack was of a sturdier construction or had additional padding (maybe double what it currently has). The Qosmio-power-brick combination is a heavy beast.

All of this make for a heavy backpack. But, even when full, my backpack looks just like it does as pictured here in this listing.

ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT
As mentioned above, the bottom could use more padding or a combination of a molded bottom PLUS the current level of padding to better protect heavy laptops like the Toshiba Qosmio.Read more ›

Excellent backpack at this price point

1 month and 3 airports later, the backpack still looks like new, I have to say it is not BIG, it is HUGE, it fits the 17.3 inch latop, power adapter, a nikon D7100 with a 18-200 lens in a camera bag, a light jacket and an ipad with room left for more. The separate laptop zipper allows a fast checkpoint transit, it feels very light and the straps are very comfortable if you have to carry it for a long while. The only thing that does not match the whole backpack feeling is the top handle which is a little thin, but to me it is not an issue because I hardly ever grab it from the top handle.

I am very satisfied with this backpack.

Great, sturdy, light, big. Construction feels very solid, materials feel great. Recommendable 100%

This is a really great bag! I was using a briefcase for a 17 inch Dell Lattitude M6700 Laptop with 32GB. It was a pain to carry and I looked for a slimline backpack that allowed me to carry this laptop to work and have other compartments.

This bag stays upright really well. I do not like the interior color (orange) but that is a backseat to functionality. I love it!

Great backpack!

I actually saw and bought mine at the local Best Buy because I needed it right away for 49.99 + tax. so you save around 7-8$ on Amazon.

The backpack is great. It is extremely spacious and was exactly what I was looking for. The laptop compartment is huge, it fits my 15.6 inch easily and will fit your 17 inch as well. The front pockets are excellent and well designed. The side pockets are great as well, I just wish one was for water, but I guess the "netting" look is a bit aesthetically unappealing. The backpacks main compartment is also very big, mainly due to the foundation of the bag - excellent design. Bigger than the 75$ underarmour backpack I had before. Also WAY bigger than any Timbuktu messenger bag I had and the crappy roll top puma backpack I had before.

Good buy, great price, bigger than the samsonite's, looks great, and cost 50$

Like really tall

This backpack is tall. Like really tall. It fits an alienware 17 and TWO full size mechanical keyboards, a razer blackwidow ultimate and the incredibly big g710+. There is padding on both of the compartment which is also a huge plus. I can carry two laptops easily without any worries of the sides cracking or breaking from dropping the backpack too hard. Overall, its a really simple and pretty backpack. The materials feel like it'll last a few years before replacement, which is fine y me since the $40 price tag.
White it's not necessarily wide, it makes up for it with its height. My biggest complaint is the comfort. While carrying my laptop and a few books, my shoulders were pretty sore from the 10 minute walk. There isn't much padding in the shoulder pads.
