I have been using this to carry my laptop and clothes for overnight trips. It is so much easier than using a whole carry-on suitcase on a plane. If I can get away with business casual wear on my trip, I have been able to take a set of work out clothes (including sneakers), a change of clothes for work, and also all of my toiletries in the middle compartment of this bag, which is a good size. It all fits well if you put the sneakers in sideways, and use a mid sized packing cube (roll your clothes into the packing cube) I can also fit a folder or 2, my laptop, charging cord, Bose headphones, notepad and my tablet in the 4 other compartments, and the bag fits just fine under the seat in front of me. When I get to my hotel or rental car, I can slide my packing cube out and my sneakers, and go right into work with my computer and accessories. It's amazing how much fits in this bag! I have been trying to master "only 1 carry on" for overnight trips as I do feel less stressed than I do with toting 2 bags around the airport.

PS My 17" HP laptop fits fine in this bag, so I'm not sure what the issues are with other posters.

I wanted more space so I bought this based on other reviews. After receiving it I feel that this backpack is just not worth the price. It does not stack up well to what I'm used to from SwissGear. I have owned 3 SwissGear packs, the one I am currently using is this:
http://www.amazon.com/SwissGear-ScanSmart-Laptop-Backpack-Blue/dp/B005XGTKLG/ref=sr_1_22?ie=UTF8&qid=1359160294&sr=8-22&keywords=swiss+gear+backpack
which I got for <60 from Sams Club. This TSA backpack is twice as expensive and is made of much cheaper materials. The fabrics feel cheaper and are thinner, the straps are much thinner and less padded, the zippers are smaller and not very smooth, and there is only one organizer pocket. My Sams Club pack has an organizer pocket, a small zipper pocket within the main compartment, a small zipper pocket withing the secondary compartment, and a small zipper pocket on the outsize near the top, and the two wing pockets just like this TSA pack. These small pockets really help you organize all your smaller items. This pack would be OK for about the same price I paid for my Sams Club pack, but at this price I feel it is a rip off. It does offer more space but less organization ability.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T BUY SWISSGEAR BACKPACKS. I spent almost $100
on one and the straps and pockets started unraveling inside of a few
months from regular use. I tried repeatedly to get them to honor
their "Lifetime Warranty" to no avail. They called this damage from
regular use and said it was not covered, no exceptions. They also
told me they could do absolutely nothing since I didn't have my original
receipt. Who keeps original receipts for items under $100 for months
or years at a time? They gave me this runaround after having me jump
through all kinds of hoops (taking multiple photos from different
angles and asking me for all sorts of information. Gave them several
chances to do something (replace or provide a voucher). Nothing. P.S. -
TRG is one of the main companies that manufactures these and they are
made in China. Should have checked that from the outset. Never again
buying one of their laptops. End of Story.

well i really loved this bag and I'm sorry that I have to return it the description says 17 inch laptop bag while the label on it is for 15.6 laptops.
the material quality is high grade many compartments and storage arias for different gadget including a pocket for mobile phone or mp3 player with a small slot to take out the earphones so you can use the player without taking it from the bag. the laptop compartment is well padded and you can flat open the bag for easy scan at airports.
the product gets 5 stars the seller gets zero for bad description.
update
contacted the seller for the description and they informed me that the description is provided by the manufacturer and they returned the bag on their cost.

I busted the zipper on one leather bag and two canvas bags after I purchased a 17 inch laptop. The bags would zipper shut, but they were so tight, eventually the zipper would break.

I take my laptop to work everyday. I also travel extensively. This backpack works great. I love the variety of pockets. The butterfly fold out for TSA screenings works fine. This bag has plenty of space for my 17 inch HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook without putting any tension on the zipper.

This is my second Swiss Gear laptop backpack. I bought this one to replace the previous one, after the shoulder strap wore out after a year's worth of use. Both bags had the same problem with the straps. I use the bag daily for commuting, and typically only use the left single strap when carrying the bag. I carry a laptop infrequently; less than one day per week on average. The rest of the days, the backpack only carries papers, iPod, my lunch, etc - nothing heavy. Please check the photo attached, which shows how both bags came apart. The one on the right is the older bag, while the one on the left is the newer and have been in use only eight months. It's too bad; I liked both bags, but based on this performance, I'm going to seek out another manufacturer. My old Jansport backpack never came apart in this manner.
