One major flaw

This desk starts out with a great idea. A cooling tray for a
laptop that has storage! The star is for the idea. I was offered this
to try out for Vine. I was thrilled, because I often use a lap desk, and
the idea of the storage for cords and other items was perfect!

The item arrived with both of the lock tabs off of the desk. The
two darker tabs that you see on the picture lock the desk closed. It was neatly packed
with air bubbles to secure it, so I am not sure why this occurred. My husband
managed to get it snapped back together for me, so I was ready to go. After
inspecting the storage area I popped my Macbook on the desk, and it slid right off.

The grid on which the laptop rests is plastic. There is no material or mechanism for
keeping the computer in place. The one that I had prior had rubber at the corners and there
was no slipping. I tried using the handle to keep the Macbook on top, but that didn't work
very well. I typically sit laptop and lap desk on top of some books on the bookshelf next
to my chair. This keeps it all handy and ready to go. When I placed the desk with the laptop
on it in the usual spot. my Macbook slid right off.

The only way I have found to keep the laptop in place while on the shelf is to turn it
backwards. This of course means that the handle does me no good. So this is a great idea
and one that would be very useful, aside from the one major flow. Nothing to hold the
computer in place. I am very disappointed in this item. I kept waffling between one and two
stars, but I could not in good conscious give it two.

Sorry Lap Desk. I wanted to like you so much more.

a very nice little lapdesk

This is a great little lap desk/cooling pad. It's lightweight, but surprisingly sturdy, and keeps my lap and laptop much cooler than if I tried to actually have the computer on top of my lap. The storage compartment is great for things like pens, computer disks, memory cards, simple earbuds or a *small* mouse, but it's not large enough for a regular mouse, the laptop's power cord or a headset with mic. The walls of the storage area are actually very flexibly rubbery material, and cords can go through it nicely. Although to be honest, I'm not sure why you'd want cords going through it.

It's barely large enough for me to use as a lapdesk/mousepad for my 14" laptop. It's a little bit smaller than the width of my 17" gaming laptop. I think this lapdesk is great for a 14 or 15" laptop. To be honest, it doesn't do much for my Asus gaming laptop for two reasons - gaming tends to make laptops run hotter and this particular laptop has all of its heat generating bits in the back. This lapdesk is more solid in the back with perforated holes under where standard cooling would be. I think it's great for light cooling situations -- causal web browsing. But if you're going to be using your laptop for a couple of hours at a pop, you want to consider something with more ooomph - like an active cooling pad with fans you plug into your computer.

One improvement it really really needs: a slide out tray that can function as a mousepad. Without that, I'm just not going to use this often.

Laptop use made easy.

I got this for use in bed, particularly for my mother. She likes to use her computer while watching TV, and her laptop usually gets pretty hot while she has it on her lap. This lap desk has a cooling mechanism so that air gets to the bottom of the laptop to help keep it ventilated and cool. I prefer mechanisms with an actual fan to draw the heat away from the bottom of the laptop but this would of course added to the price. This product has a comfortable slope to it that allows you to access the keyboard of the laptop with better visibility and still see the screen well. It does not have a mechanism to keep the laptop from sliding off, but my Mom didn't have an issue with that.

I really like the nice extras that they included with this. It has under-the-hood storage. You can keep things like a notebook mouse, paper, pen, or whatever you like under there. It also has cable management, so you can keep cables out of the way. It also has a nice built-in handle that you can use to carry it around. This is a very economical way to get to use a laptop on your lap. I really wish this would have come with some way to prevent the laptop from sliding off the top, because I think this is the main flaw. Other than that, this is a good option to work on a laptop with comfort.

Disappointing
