I ordered this bag for my iPad 2 wanting a bag that would give it better protection while I carried it from place to place. I also wanted pockets and places to put pens, the charger, and other things that I would like to carry with it. I thought this bag would do just that from what I saw, so I ordered it. When I received it, I opened it up with anticipation. I checked it out thoroughly, and was satisfied. It wasn't until after I went to put my iPad in it as well as everything else that I realized I was impressed. My iPad fit perfectly and the pocket made for it kept it snugly in place. Not only is there enough room for my iPad in the main pocket, but there was plenty of space to put a paperback novel in there as well. I also found plenty of space for the charger as well as pens, and other small accessories. The overall quality of the bag is very good. It seems to be made to last. I'm confident that my iPad 2 is safe in this bag. I love Targus, and have used their bags for laptops in the past, so I was sure this bag would be made with the same quality. I was not disappointed. I was actually impressed how well thought out this bag is, and I know it'll serve its purpose. :)

Great pack, great price

I bought this bag for use in college with my Toshiba Satellite laptop. I'm an engineering major and need my laptop with me about 90% of the time, and this bag fit the requirements almost perfectly. Able to store laptop, one textbook, one 2" binder, graphing calculator, calipers, safety glasses, various pens, smaller notebook. Wish I could fit another textbook so I didn't have to go back to my car, but that is not a reflection of this product, I should have looked into that. Recycled material is very strong and all stitching seems great so far. Good compartments for cables/USB devices too. Well-padded laptop compartment fits well and closes with a velcro strap across the top. As comfortable as a laptop pack can be, though I'm used to heavy loads. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase.

I would highly recommend this bag. I've had it for a while now, and its very solid and has plenty of space. Often i'll keep my 15.6 laptop, a stack of papers, a couple of books and the charger and mouse. There is still plenty of room for more in the front pockets though.

It has nice lines and looks sporty compared to most bags. The strap is very comfortable too; well padded and fitted nicely.

The only reason i take away a star is because the strap harness squeaks when i walk. I'm sure i could fix this with some oil but I'm too lazy.

Great quality compact backpack for 17.3 inch laptop.

I own a 17.3 inch HP Pavilion DV7 laptop and like many 17.3 inch laptop owners had a hard time finding a backpack to properly fit such a large notebook. My search has ended with this backpack. It is pretty much perfect for my use and it has a great new modern/professional look for Targus. I was looking for a backpack to commute between home and work that allowed me to keep my hands free for carrying other bags. I don't need a lot of storage space, just my 17.3 notebook, mouse, cables, ipod, accessories, business portfolio pad and an occasional binder or two of work documents. And it fits all of this perfectly.

Laptop Fit:

First off the laptop fits perfectly!! Finally!! After months of dealing with bags that were meant for a 17.0 notebook, I found one that fit a 17.3!! The rear most zipper compartment is pretty much dedicated for laptop storage and is VERY well padded. You may have just enough space to fit a couple of magazines along with the laptop. About 1 inch of the laptop stick out from the inner padded sleeve but the velcro strap securely fits and keeps it strapped in. There is plenty of room between the top of the laptop and the zipper, so nothing to worry about. In addition to the padded laptop sleeve the entire front panel of the laptop zipper compartment is padded to give extra protection from larger items in the middle zipper compartment from damaging the laptop.

Build/Materials:

This build and materials are great! I was sceptically with it being an "eco-friendly" bag with recycled materials used. To my surprise, I really think the materials have a very high quality look and feel. The materials have a matte type look, no shiny looking canvas here like some cheap backpacks. Missing a handle that should be there for balance

One thing I didn't notice about the design of this product when I purchased it on Amazon is the absence of a second short handle. If the short handle was designed to be placed in the center it would not be an issue, but it's "seated" as if there should be an opposing handle. If you choose not to use the shoulder strap and use this in a "briefcase" manner there is an odd imbalance I don't like when I hold it this way.

High Quality, Good Looking Backpack!

THE GOOD:
*Measured: 19"x14"x7" @ 2lb3.5oz
*I really liked the color scheme/pallet of this backpack. It's not dull black/white/grey and it's very subtle and professional looking. I wore this backpack into several meetings with a suit, and used it daily going into the office.
*It fits a lot of stuff! I didn't want a really deep backpack, however i was able to carry my laptop + charger + lan cable, and 2x 1000pg programming books (stacked on top of each other), a couple notebooks, and then a bunch of small things in the front two pockets. I imagine it would be very handy for a college student with similar needs.
*The main front pocket folds down almost all the way, has two large pockets, ID holder, couple mesh pockets. Good enough to hold small things. There is also a front pouch pocket thats not that deep, and can be hard to get things in and out with a tightly packed bag.
*Laptop compartment is padded on the front and back and the bottom has a little bit as well.
*The side zippered pocket has a hole for headphone wires to go out.
*Fits 15.6" laptops great (got the 17" version). Had plenty of room to spare for a tablet.
*Fabric is very thick, feels really durable. Stitching looks good. I have no doubt this pack will last quite a long time, structurally.

THE OKAY:
*The strap and back padding is alright. Fully loaded my backpack weighs probably 20-25lbs. Carrying it around for extended periods of time was not really comfortable. But that's probably not an average design requirement for the average laptop user. There are still a lot of laptop backpacks out there with better padding though.Read more ›
