Does What It's Supposed To, Just Be Sure It Meets Your Needs Beforehand

Bought this at my local Staples. It's powered by plugging a USB cable into you computer. It's quiet and does what it advertises by keeping the underside of my laptop cool. It has only one fan and it's located in the center of the mat, which is the only problem I have with it, as the left-hand side of my laptop is the part which gets the hottest, and the part that is kept the coolest is the area directly over the fan. Otherwise, it's a perfectly serviceable.

I bought this thinking that a single fan would be sufficient enough to cool my Asus RT-AC66R router.

I previously had bought and returned the HAVIT® HV-F2033 14-15.6" Super-slim Laptop Cooler Cooling Pad with Turbo Dual Fan (2 Fans) but returned that unit because I didn't like the led lights and felt that it wasn't cooling my router enough. The fans were apart from each other just enough on the Havit cooler that I couldn't position my router between the two fans and get maximum exposure to both, so I tried positioning the router over one fan and used it for a while, but ended up returning it as it ultimately did not suit my needs.

Without any cooling device, the router runs at around 132 F. With the Havit I was getting readings of 122 F.

So I bought this Targus Laptop Chill Mat thinking that if I positioned my router above the singular fan that I would get better cooling. First, it doesn't have an LED light, so that was good for me. If I had to say which cooler felt better in my hands, I would say it was the Havit. This Targus one feels a tad bit cheaper. I think it's because of the plastic surrounding the grill.. it's not bad, but it doesn't feel like super high quality either..

After placing the router on top of the Targus for a few hours, I ended up getting readings of 126 F... not what i was hoping for.

This could be a good solution for someone that needs minimal cooling for a laptop (or other device) and isn't looking to spend a lot.

Does not cool my macbook pro

I purchased this to help keep my macbook pro cool and it does NOT work. There are two really weak fans that blow on the bottom of the computer. Macbooks exhaust heat through the small opening at the hinge of the screen and base. Unlike my work PC where there is a small vent on the left where you can put an exhaust fan there to help suck the hot air out.

I do a lot of work on my mac and because of the heat, I have since removed it from the macally Bookshell2 case to help the computer release the generated heat.

This has managed to cool my macbook down a tad. Not enough for me to justify this purchase. The belkin cool pad with one fan in the center works better than this in my opinion. The fan is much stronger though smaller.

Now, I use this pad with my mac PLUS a portable fan (to cool myself down as well) to help keep my mac cool. The only thing I have found useful about this is the ability to buffer my thighs from heat when I'm using my computer in places that do not offer a table top.

I don't recommend this product.
