So so happy with this computer!

My past two laptops have been Acer, and I will NEVER purchase again! I got just under two years out of each of them, the last one literally falling apart physically, the monitor hinge coming out of the monitor, which immediately made the computer useless as I had no access to it with anything from the keyboard or mouse. I went from a fully functioning laptop one moment, to suddenly having to frantically shop online for another laptop and having to figure out a way to retrieve all my data from my broken laptop.

Flash forward 2 days, and I had a sparkling new ASUS laptop. From the first use, I could tell I would have to return it. I already wrote a review on that computer, which I am returning because of SO MANY PROBLEMS with it...basically acting like an old virus-infected dinosaur that was ready to croak. So again I found myself searching for a new laptop. My Lenovo think pad just arrived yesterday and already just in first use, I can tell I am going to love this computer. It just feels solid and seamless. When you want it to do something, it just DOES IT. Seems pretty basic for a computer, eh...after all, that IS what you purchased, a computer that is supposed to behave a certain way and follow the commands you give it. Harder to find that we would think.

So anyway, the pros and cons:
- As I said, seamless functioning so far. If I tell it to do something, it does it just as expected...no surprises, no unexpected windows popping up all over the place, no mouse going every which way from a crappy touchpad. Ahhhhh...such a relief!
- It's got Windows 7!!!

I can't believe the price I got this laptop for. This thing feels like it will last me at least 5 years with good care.
Comes with the newest of Intel's i7 processor, and a graphics card!

Since I bought an older thinkpad (E540) and migrating to this one, i can say:

-Thinkpads have gotten much smaller and skinnier (although in general they are still decent sized/weighted)
-Screen looks amazing, coming from a 720p screen to this 1080p screen
-Additions of pressable left and right mouse buttons on the trackpad (other models only have one huge mousepad)
-Upward facing speaker is much better placed, but still same loudness (which is super loud)
-Comes with a single 8 Gig Ram card, which leaves an empty slot for upgrading

What else do you need from a laptop? It's super fast, responsive, ergonomic, and the keyboard makes you want to type an essay!
Buying this exact laptop from Lenovo would run you about $900. Not sure how Computer Upgrade King did it, but I don't want to ask.
Lenovo also sells this laptop for $750 here on Amazon, but CUK sells for $740 (at the time of this purchase, 9/23/2015)

Buy this laptop. It is functional, and almost obsolete proof.

I bought it off Lenovo. I like it. I previously owned a Lenovo G550. Never take the minimum amount of memory. You simply can't possess too much memory. Software apps are always getting better and consuming more memory. 8GB may serve you right now but kick in the money for the 16GB. It runs beautifully when you provide it with all the memory that it can use. With the G550 I started with only 3GB of memory and upgraded to 4 GB. After a few years the storage drive was filling and the PC slowing. When I decided to purchase another laptop the E550 immediately caught my attention. It offered all the features that I eventually realized that wanted on the G550 plus some other items. The keyboard is a vast improvement over the prior one. Ditto for the battery. The G550 provided a battery that gave you two to three hours of power while the E550 provides 8 to 9 hours of power. I rarely look for outlets anymore outside the home and office. The Finger print reader is disappointing at times. Too often it takes two or three swipes before it reads the fingerprint but you can always fall back on the old method, a password. It's worth the money.

Lenovo E550 i7-5500U, nice computer, with new Intel I7-5500 processor, 15" LED monitor, DVD RW, 500GB drive and AMD video controller. Great laptop for the cost, Loaded with windows 7 Pro.
It does not come with recovery utility, but one can R-click on the Q drive and create Recovery to 32GB USB drive. If you want windows 8.1 media, you can pay Lenovo and they will mail you a copy!!!.
The AMD video processor is slow (lower in performance than Intel on processor video of I5 5th generation).
The touchpad is reasonably sensitive, but not convenient, as well as the mouse buttons on the top.
