I had a Seagate Momentus SSD in my MacBook Pro, it lasted one year. Then failed miserably. this has replaced it, I lost some seriously fast startup and shutdown times, but that is really it. This drive gets a workout, and performs great.

MQ01ABD050 to the rescue plus 100gb extra

The harddrive in my Toshiba laptop starting having some really bad issues that could not be fixed by chkdsk /f. I ordered this item with my fingers crossed. It arrived in a separate box. It was in a static-guard package and surrounded by bubble wrap within a plastic case that had balloon packing to hold it steady inside the cardboard shipping container.

WOW, what a change to previous harddrives from Amazon.

I slipped the drive into its compartment on the underside of the laptop. Applied the screws to hold the drive in the adapter and the compartment. Put the cover in place and then began the rebuild process.

The "rescue" CD was put into the CD/DVD drive. The harddrive with the OS image and backup was plugged into the USB port. The moment of reality commenced. The drive was good!

The computer was restored. The original laptop drive was 400gb. This drive provided another 100gb to store more "precious?" crap. Now the laptop computer is again operational!

This is a good drive. The price was excellent. I think it is a very good deal!

My new 1TB Toshiba hard drive - love it with caution

This hard drive is fast (despite running at just 5400 rpm). It is an advanced format drive and I found out the hard way that you cannot install Windows XP on it because the OS is so old that it does not recognize the new set up for the first boot sector. It works fine in Windows 7 and Linux. I am using Win 7 Professional (first primary partition) and Slackware64 ver 14.1 in another partition. I bought the drive because my laptop's original 160 GB hard drive is getting smaller and smaller with the space-hungry applications coming out these days demand more space. One word of caution: don't count on Toshiba to answer your questions. I posted a question about the hard drive on the Toshiba website and still have not heard from them; I don't expect to hear from them and hope I never run into warranty issues with the drive. Most likely I will stick with another hard drive manufacturer next time I buy another drive.

Great replacement for my Toshiba laptop

Great replacement for my Toshiba laptop! I kept getting an error message saying that my old hard drive was about to give out on me. Geek Squad at Best Buy kept pushing a year subscription with them for $200, ON TOP of labor and parts cost. At least that person told me what I needed to get it fixed, and I YouTubed how to actually replace the HDD. This was cheaper than the one they had at their store too, and it has a higher capacity!

Note: After I got everything running again, I found out about cloning from the internet. Geek Squad should have told me about cloning my HDD. Would have saved me the trouble of having to buy the recovery disc from Toshiba (no, they don't give it for free anymore with your initial purchase of the PC) and spending hours loading it onto my new HDD along with all the other programs I needed. Then again, cloning probably wouldn't have worked since my old HDD was dying anyway. But, FYI, to all those not so techie like me but want to save some money: Look up cloning. Having a cloned HDD as back up is also a great to have in case your current HDD suddenly goes out on you.
