While I did not buy this on Amazon, I did buy it from Best Buy with a 10% off coupon. Anyways, you're looking to get a cheap laptop, but don't really have the cash to spend on a MacBook or similar. You could always buy a Chromebook, but those don't come with Windows. So you look at the regular Windows laptops and stumble upon this one. Let me first tell you that this laptop is about $200-$280, depending on where you get it from. Don't go in expecting this to be an insanely great system, because it's not. Let's go over the things it doesn't have:

1080p screen? Nope.
8GB of RAM? Nope.
Core i3/5/7? Nope.
8.1 Pro? Nope.
Crisp and amazing screen? Nope.
All-day battery life? Nope.

Those sound pretty bad, right? Maybe, but go back to what I said before...it's a ~$250 laptop, don't expect the world. So how about the things that are actually good about it.

15.6" screen.
Pretty nice keyboard.
Despite being a Celeron, it's pretty fast at basic things.
The screen isn't bad, despite what the other review just said. Nothing is blurry at all.

This isn't the type of laptop I'd normally get, but come on, it's a $200 laptop. Could I have gotten a better laptop for more money? Sure, but it's a $200 laptop! It's full Windows, an HD screen (1366x768), a 10-key, and only around $200 or so. Don't go in expecting the world, because you're not going to get it. What are you going to get is a pretty nice laptop for damn cheap. I reformatted it and got rid of "8.1 with Bing" and all the bloatware crap they install, and just installed 8.1 Pro instead. It'll run Office just fine, and works awesome as a web browser or whatever light work you're going to do on it. And ffs, it's cheaper than $300!

Technically, I would rate this a 4.5, and I'll explain why in a moment.

But let me start by saying that I bought this computer to replace a desktop from 2003. Obviously, nearly anything would have been an improvement, but I am very happy with this laptop. Despite my apparent lack of technological up-to-dated-ness, I have worked with several laptops at work over the past few years where multitasking and multimedia are a huge part of my job. With this in mind, I knew there were a few things I wanted in my new home computer.

I bought this from another retailer as a budget minded shopper. I purposely chose an open-box model to save a few more dollars, but was pleasantly surprised to note that if I had not known that fact, i would have never been able to tell it had been opened before.

In the box was the laptop, a few registration and easy startup papers, and the charger/adapater. I found the laptop to be fairly easy to set up, light enough to carry around, and much sturdier than I had expected a budget laptop to be. It is plastic, but does not have the cheap look or feel of some of the others that I had tested at bigbox retailers. I have let my 7 and 5 year olds play games on it without worry that they will destroy it.

I love the keyboard - very quiet - and the number pad (a must for me!) though, it is narrow. The touchpad centers with the keyboard and not the entire laptop, so I tend to "palm" it by accident, but it is been a small annoyance. Backlighting would have been nice, but unnecessary in the long run, as I rarely look down at the keyboard once I have started typing.

Let me begin by saying that this laptop is an excellent value for money, very good to perform daily tasks. I have almost a month of using this laptop and I have not had any problems with it. It has a LED display that has excellent sharpness. The battery life is very good almost 5 hours in my case. The processing speed is very good suitable for office use, surfing the internet, watching videos and more ....
It has dual layer optical drive with which you can play and record files, photos, videos. It has 3 USB ports. Besides this I got the surprise that comes bundled Bluetooth. Right now I am writing this review from this laptop and I'm very glad you bought. Overall it is a great laptop to buy would recommend to anyone.

You won't find a better laptop for this price. Windows 8.1 runs really well. The layout of the laptop is very ergonomic. Comes with a Superdrive. It is super light, and the 15.6" widescreen is generous and crisp. It comes with 4GB RAM, and 3 USB slots including one of them being a USB 3.0. Also, has a convenient SD card reader right in front, and an HDMI input which I hooked up to my 1080p 42" screen, and it appeared immediately on the HDTV screen after which I commenced to watch a few South Park episodes online. It runs crisp and clean. Multi-tasking is a bit of a challenge, but this would be easily alleviated with an upgrade to a solid state drive or a RAM upgrade, both of which are pretty inexpensive these days, but it is unnecessary if you're just doing basic stuff like web browsing, streaming video, word processing etc . Battery lasts about 5 hours on a single charge. Chromebooks use a Celeron processor as well in addition to a small solid state drive, and this one is 2.16GHz w/ a boost to 2.41GHz with a 500GB 5400RPM HD. The Chromebooks only use a 1.4GHz Celeron, yet they seem fast b/c of the small OS footprint and SSD, but this laptop w/ a SSD and RAM upgrade to 8GB would be blazing. Both are easy to do for DIYers b/c the bottom is super easy to pop off by just unscrewing the bottom screws, removing the battery and superdrive and pulling it right off. There's really nothing to it. No special steps or anything like many other PC laptops. RAM slot is right there, and there is only one slot that holds up to 8GB ddr3. The black color has a graphite texture, look and feel, and it is less than 5lbs, sleek and slim. I just remove the stock norton anti-virus and use microsoft defender, and if I need a deep clean I use malwarebytes.Read more ›
