Runs The Sims 4 Just Fine!

This computer is amazing. It totally blew my mind. Do not think just because this computer has a Intel Celeron processor and Intel Integrated Graphics that it can't run basic video games. I bought this laptop from Best Buy under the assumption that it wouldn't be able to run ANY games, because of the specs included. But while I was at Best Buy I picked up The Sims 4, because I was curious as to if this pc would even run the game. After installing the game through Origin (Electronic Arts Game Service) I tried the game. And it WORKS. It plays just fine with no lag what so ever while on "Medium" graphics. And to be honest, medium looks just like Ultra so there really is no difference.

I also got "Need For Speed: World" and that game runs just fine with very minor lag when taking sharp turns. Other than gaming, the computer is just fine. It's very very smooth and fast when it comes to transition animations, and opening programs. "VideoPad Video Editior" runs fairly slow but there are plently alternatives out there. YouTube videos play just fine in 720p. Like I said, I was not expecting this laptop to be this fast and smooth.

In conclusion, this computer is extremely under priced and should be priced higher because its really nice and fast.

It depends on your needs....

Many reviewers on numerous websites have downgraded this product unfairly in my opinion. Everything depends on the purposes you have for it.

As many reviewers seem to be hard core gamers, it hasn't been as well received, and for those reviewers who would like to upgrade componentry are not comfortable with opening the case to upgrade the RAM and/or hard drive (HD/SSD), it hasn't rated well in upgradability either.

Firstly, I primarily use this for running the office suite to build and show classroom presentations which incorporate video, sounds, Flash and other resources through a video projector. I also use it for the more common things like mobile browsing, email and the like. This notebook clearly handles these tasks with remarkable ease. I use an entirely different system for resource heavy applications such as Adobe CS5 Master Suite.

For those wanting to maximize its capability, it would only require 10 minutes to open the case (violates the warranty) and upgrade the RAM from a 4gb module to an 8gb. A storage upgrade would only add another minute to the mix. Not for the faint hearted, but an easy task for others in my opinion. To say it cannot be upgraded is a misnomer, but agreeably wasn't designed for end user service.

A very capable device for a particular need at a great pricepoint.

The computer itself is fine, but the Windows 8 really is irritating, and I'm not super picky about that kind of stuff. I can't even get to the dang calculator in a fast or logical way. I just wish it had come with the previous version of Windows, but I'm just going to switch to Ubuntu because it's free. The only other thing I dislike about this computer is that the power cord sticks straight out of the computer instead of having a 90 degree bend. Overall, it was a good purchase for someone who doesn't game, and really only needed to be able to type with ease, and browse the internet.

Love This Laptop!

I use Macs at work and Chromebook and Chromebox at home. However, I needed a Win laptop to run my music software. Shopped all over and was ready to pull the trigger on a similar model Toshiba but without the DVD/CD drive. Looking at Amazon I then found a similar model but with the DVD/CD drive for ten bucks less so I ordered it. I have to admit I wasn't really excited about having to buy and use a Windows 8 laptop but I have to say I am impressed. The processor is just a 2GHz Celeron but it is totally sufficient for everything plus my audio and MIDI recording software including VST instruments. I had to get used to the trackpad as its placement is to the left and I kept activating unwanted swipe gestures but after a week of using it my fingers have acclimated to it and I love it. The keyboard has very short-stroke keys and is quite sensitive but after a week of using it, I like it. The ten-key pad is a welcome inclusion for keying numbers. Big, beautiful, bright screen with nice color rendition.The tiny speakers face up at the top of keyboard and get the job done. The construction is all plastic and wouldn't survive being dropped, but what laptop would? Maybe one of the aluminum-block Apple products, but who knows? WiFi and streaming videos and music have been glitch-free. I mostly use the standard Windows 8.1 desktop (not the tiles) but it is easy to switch between the two desktops if you want. The top row function keys include screen brightness, audio volume, display switching, and play/pause/stop as usual. I've been getting about 5-6 hours of battery time per charge. All-in-all, I really love this laptop. I take back all the bad thoughts and words I've every uttered about Windows 8!
