When you want to recreate the Dial-Up experience...

Summary: Avoid Toshiba and/or Windows 8.1.

Bought this after my 6-year old laptop died. I've had this laptop for 2 days, and it is PAINFUL. I didn't un-install any existing apps or add any new ones, so this is the experience that Toshiba/Windows wants you to have.

Let me count the ways:
- The mouse freezes about 10 times an hour and it takes 15-35 seconds to unfreeze.
- Using Chrome, I have 10 tabs open (Nytimes.gmail, etc). It takes 15-35 seconds for a new tab to launch or an existing one to reload.
- Once an hour, the laptop freezes in order to flash the time, and you have to stop everything you're doing to click and acknowledge the time. (this is not a work PC, so I have no idea who thought this was a great idea).
- The battery life lasts 2-3 hours...even when it's hibernating and not being used!!!

An annoyance is that holes for the battery, internet cable, ubs and sound are too close to each other on the left side of the PC. It's hard to remove one wire without removing the others.

This is my first Toshiba and Windows 8.1 experience. Can't recommend either with this experience. I'll be asking Amazon if this can be returned for a full refund.

Hope you'll have a better experience with a different laptop.
