We just got one of these for my wife. I can address some topics I have seen discussed.
1) Keyboard. I wish it used more of the full width, for my hands I would want something a bit larger. For my wife who is 5'8 its fine. The key press is very shallow but there is tactile feedback it doesn't feel squishy. The layout of the keys, like arrow and Page up and down is good. For this level of machine I would give the keyboard a B+
2) Screen. It has narrower viewing angles than tablets and better monitors. But is was bright when turned up. I wouldn't do photo editing on it, but for web, writing etc. Its fine.
3) The hinge - Maybe it was some of the early units provided to the early reviewers "free" that were a little loose. Our unit was not loose and held its place at any angle. I don't see this as a problem at all with the unit.

Other comments: Speed-wise it is good. We installed Office 365 local apps in a few minutes. Word comes up quickly (under 5 seconds) (love the SSD, there is no way for $30 I would buy the Celeron / 500GB version of this machine. You want the SSD.. If you need more than 128GB.. you are doing graphics / games and this is probably not the machine for you. For Office/School stuff and web this will be fine.

Portable machines without SSDs are just asking for issues and lower power machines with normal HDs will not perform was well as they could. SSD should be a top decision point when shopping for machines like this.

This is a very new machine with a very new version of this mobile Pentium. But after 2 hours with it we are happy with the purchase!

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This Toshiba 2-in-1 Touchscreen laptop is pretty light and thin from laptop point of view, but heavy and thicker from tablet point of view. I don't think people can hold it as a tablet for long time. But, overall, it's still very portable and you can easily slide it into brief case, backpack...etc.

Comparing with my Acer and Asus chromebooks, this Toshiba 2-in-1 laptop is faster for both (1) power up from cold, and (2) wake up from sleep. That's impressive. I guess the 128G SSD does help on the speed. The program loading speed is also fast.

The battery is embedded and not replaceable. That's the trend for these kind of 2-in-1 laptops...as most tablets' batteries are not replaceable also. The battery life is about 4.5 hours on heavy usage. Nothing to brag about, as this is a compromise between portability and battery life.

I like the keyboard design. To save keyboard real estate, some laptops/chromebooks remove some functional keys (for example, page-up and page-down keys). This Toshiba 2-in-1 laptop keeps most functional keys. They just make some functional keys a little bit smaller to save real estate. I think that's a good design trade-off.

Comparing with my other notebooks and chromebooks, I agree the hinge of this Toshiba L15W-B1120 Convertible laptop is not that firm. I don't mean any manufacturing defect. I mean the hinge has less friction to turn. So, it's less effort to rotate the screen to either laptop mode of tablet mode. When the screen and keyboard are opened with angle between 30 degrees to 330 degrees, the hinge has sufficient friction to keep the screen in firm position. I operate the laptop by keeping tapping the touch screen, the screen stays put.

This is a great little laptop for the price and the only one that met my criteria. My criteria was sub $400, at least a pentium, under 12", 4gb and a SSD large enough to not have to rely on cloud storage. I did not consider any Chromebooks so I guess Windows was a criteria.

My rating is based on what you get for the money and performance relative to my expectations with the listed specs. I could list things this laptop cannot do but most of them are unrealistic expectations in this price and form factor. What I can tell you is that the laptop is well built, the hinge on mine is very solid and overall it is very sturdy feeling for a plastic laptop. It starts up very quickly and it's nice to not have that fear of start up time driving me to just leave it on constantly. It has no problems surfing the web or any other light work, I haven't encountered any slowdown with multi tab browsing. The battery life for me has been good but with any laptop that is dependent on settings and what you are doing with it.

The most important thing to consider here is what you are looking to use it for and what price/size concessions you are willing to make. This is a great laptop for those who want to be able to surf the web on the couch or mess around with some light games while still having a keyboard. I am not one to enjoy having a 15.6" laptop on my lap.

There is a Microsoft signature edition Satellite Radius but it comes with a standard HDD and I find the SSD to be very important in these lower powered laptops. The first thing I did with this was spend less than an hour uninstalling the bloatware and running CC cleaner. I did not notice anything that would be terrible if you left it on and everything uninstalled without issue/effort.
