This review was posted on November 20th when there was precious little information available on it. At that time, having worked with it for only a day, I considered this a sketch. I have now had it for a week and a half and have been updating as I got to know the machine. I am still happy to answer questions. This review had gotten a bit long with the updates. Most of the information you would want to consider prior to purchase is contained in my original (11/20) review.

I felt it important to put something up quickly, because having searched for benchmarking information discovered how little information is available on this machine. In the process I discovered that quite a few people are looking for this information as they browse the exceptional deals currently available and prepare for the holidays and ongoing black Friday and pre-Black Friday specials. This review is based on 36 hours of use, and will be updated as I gain experience with it.

I am happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability. If there is something that you would like to know which I might be able to answer, please leave your question in comments. I will make every attempt to answer it within 24 hours, faster if possible.

Just about the perfect combo for me!

It was just about 6 months ago that I purchased a Toshiba - Satellite 15.6" Touch-Screen Laptop . I had done plenty of research and it seemed to be the best one for me based on both features and price. Since buying it I have used it plenty, but I also find myself using my Samsung Tab just as much for its convenience and size

When I first un-boxed the Toshiba Satellite Radius, I was most impressed with the size and how lightweight it was. Set up with registration and updates weren’t very time consuming and I was playing around with it in no time.

First off I have to say that I’m no fan of Windows 8, but nowadays it’s coming on most all new PC’s. That being said I am getting used to it and I’m sure in time I’ll accept it. On the sides you have a HDMI Out, USB 3.0, USB slot, Memory Card reader, Sound control and Headphone jack. The screen is a nice size at just over 11.5 inches and so far the touchscreen response has been excellent. Additionally the keyboard and touchpad are comfortable, only require a light touch and are relatively quiet.

For me though the selling point is being able to convert this from a laptop to a tablet and all the configurations in-between. I find plenty of use for this as a compact laptop, but within seconds I can flip the keyboard back and use it as a tablet or reader. I can also switch it to two different display angles which are great for use in the kitchen with recipes or showing off photos in a slideshow.

As for why this is a 4 star, not 5 star review? It comes down to the battery life. I didn’t expect anything too amazing for the size, but on battery with regular use I only get about 2.75 hours of use which limits me taking it without the charger.

Overall I am extremely happy with this Toshiba 2-in-1 Satellite Radius and have happily donated my other relatively new Toshiba Touchscreen laptop to someone who could use it.

Solid for the price point

First of all, I'm not a super technical person, so I may not delve as deeply as others into the specs of this machine. It's also difficult for me to write this review knowing I'm going to get slammed for my confession: I am a Mac user, have a Macbook Pro and an iPad Mini, and this is my first Windows machine in over 10 years. I honestly love my Mac, but it is hard to share amongst three people who are always online, so I grabbed this little machine. I liked the idea of the rotating screen, a feature that has intrigued me since I first saw them. I also liked the idea of the touchscreen being attached to a keyboard, the best of both worlds, combining a tablet with a laptop.

And that is exactly what this is, a tablet with a keyboard. With benefits.

This is not a gaming laptop. This is not a powerful multimedia PC for storing tons of movies or music or photos, but at 500GB of storage (actually less with ALL of the preinstalled items) it will hold a good amount. I see it as a machine for more of a light user, perhaps someone who travels and needs something extremely portable and lightweight, because at 2.9 pounds it is LIGHT. Let me tell you, it manages to feel like almost nothing, without feeling cheap or flimsy. Dare I say that this would be a great first laptop/tablet for kids?

But despite being lightweight, it is pretty slow. Not terribly slow, especially compared with some of the tablets you can get for around the same price point or less, but the speed is not going to blow you away. So again, it fits more into the tablet category for the speed aspect, which again, is fine. 4GB would have been nicer, but it would have added cost.
