Do not buy!

Do not buy!
Nice laptop I thought but 5 months after purchase the hinges went bad. You could see the hinge slipping out of center and the lid closing incompletely. Well it's five months old so I thought no problem. It's still under warranty. Not so. Toshiba does not warranty plastic parts. The whole laptop case and hinge is plastic!!
Nothing doing. They would not cover it and the repair would cost almost as much as getting a new laptop. Ridiculous. Going into the Toshiba forums I found that many others have had the same hinge problem at the 5-6 months point. I went back to the Staples store where I bought it and saw the same laptop model on display. Looking at it carefully I saw that the right hinge on the display model was already starting to slide out of place. And it had not yet even left the store!
I will never buy another Toshiba product. They do not stand behind their defective products. Certainly don't buy this laptop.

Toshiba fixed the latch under the one year warranty!

Another review with the same problem with the latch. We purchased this computer 5 months ago from Staples. It worked really well at first. Then the right latch messed up and made a cracking noise when it was shut. The top of the computer was coming away from the screen. Staples would not do anything and told us to call Toshiba. I tried numerous times to talk with a person. Finally I sent a letter to Toshiba's corporate office explaining my problem and someone called me. He sent a box with postage paid and we mailed it to them. They fixed the latch and mailed it back to me. We have not had any problems with any of our other Toshiba laptop purchases and appreciate the service we finally received.

So Staples (who were wonderful to deal with) had a new one sent to ...

I bought this laptop back in Oct. at Staples. Right off the bat the ear phone jack wouldn't work right. So Staples (who were wonderful to deal with) had a new one sent to my house & picked up the faulty one. Well, the touch screen on the new one wouldn't work from the moment we started it up. So we called support & did a few things & got it working...for a few hours then it quit. So the next morning I tried to get it going again. It still wouldn't work. So I called Staples & ask for a full refund. They came & picked up the PC...like I said they were great...the PC not so much! So I'm still looking for a PC...but not a Toshiba...my old one was a HP...I also didn't like Windows 8....I'm a creature of habit....give me 7. I hope this helps someone looking to buy this product.

Do not buy...save your money

Do not buy. I purchased mine from Staples as well. It was barely a month old when screen would completely red out. I took it back to Staples and they said because it was past 14 days. I would have to send it back to the manufacturer. I called the manufacturer and basically got grilled to insure that I'd never dropped it and it wasn't physically damaged and was then told it would take 3-4 weeks to get my laptop and that if they discovered there was physical damage I would have to pay. My laptop is perfect, but it seems a little fishy that they say that. So I took to an authorized Toshiba Repair Facility locally and guess what...they couldn't get the part from Toshiba! After two months, they finally got the part, I got my laptop back it worked for a week, now the touch screen died. Most recently the wireless keeps dropping connection even when it has a storng signal. Suffice to say I never buy another Toshiba laptop or anything else made by them. Also I don't shop at Staples anymore either.
