Well Built, Simple, Just Right (UPDATED REVIEW)

This laptop excels at all simple task, including watching HD accelerated movies to working on an Microsoft Office document. The device comes with the normal version of Windows 8 pre-installed (which in some way kinda sucks), but the start menu issue can easily be fixed with downloading a 3rd-party start menu(Google "Start Menu 8") that will fit fine on the desktop of the OS. Working on task with the laptop computer i have not found any slow downs or crashes in progress. The laptop is great, If you do ever buy one there is a lot of bloat on the laptop, but it can easily be removed by uninstalling. This computer has an Intel Celeron processor and a Intel HD Graphics Family Edition which is not built for high end gaming, but indie games via Steam and many PC classics like GTA Vice City run well and smooth on the computer. This computer has a very crisp display and runs basic gaming and normal task very well. The camera is a budget camera, but is not bad. Its a very good computer, I would recommend it to anyone.

PS:Videos online strangely show GTA 4 and Saints Row 4 runing on the Intel HD Graphics Family Edition at 2.8 GHz and this PC clocks at 1.8 ghz. So Maybe high end games will work smoothly?

UPDATE: It runs GTA 4 with a few graphics settings tweaks. Notably It ran smoothly with only lags and slow downs after every hour! So it can run some high-end games, probibly up to this game im guessing.

Great Buy!

Bought from another source (for $229). Great laptop for the basic internet user. It will get all the basics done and is a joy to use. I am shocked that the price is so low. Even $369 is a good price for this excellent unit. Plenty of speed, memory and storage for low to medium level users.

Plenty of hard drive space. Its not a gaming pc. Display is excellent. Fast enough for basic surfing and everyday use. Toshiba is among the best pcs you will find. My wife has one running windows xp and it still working. Toshiba is the equivalent to tonka in toys.

Good laptop, just missing software

This is an overall great laptop. However, please be advised that Micrososft office is not included. This is probably my fault because I didn't research it better. But, I guess I just assumed it would be included.

So, I bought the laptop for about $350 and am going to haved to spend another $200 to get Microsoft office suite. Had I known that I would have just paid more and gotten a different laptop that included that software.

Otherwise, the computer is great for watching Netflix and any other basic needs.

Great Laptop

I love Toshiba computers- and Ive owned them all. In fact, I buy a new computer at a rate of every 1-2 years. I also currently own a gateway all in one desktop and an HP laptop (Plus an iPad 2 and iPad mini). And this one is my favorite by far. Its quick and reliable. The build seems to be a quality product. The ribbing detail is an interesting finish. The only complaint I have is that the mouse is sensitive. It seems to have a mind of its own. By that I mean, move the arrow over a link and it will automatically click, or drag. I had the same quirk with my last Toshiba laptop. Perhaps I need to adjust the settings? I call it my "sticky click."
I have Windows 8 on my other computer but couldn't figure out where the power commands were(restart, log off, etc.). Finally I found that if you right click the window button on the task bar that menu will come up.
The offset mouse takes some getting used to. Its off to the left instead of being dead center. I cant imagine why they did that. No biggie. I just position myself to the left of the laptop.
Keys are nice and quiet though the depression is pretty shallow for my liking.
As always, this laptop has the very best sound quality.
This was a gift for school and I look forward to using it.
By the way, I got mine for $379.
