I purchased a Toshiba Satellite S55t Laptop Computer recently. The computer is mostly fine. The one weakness I noticed that the battery was only holding charge for an hour or so. I called Toshiba tech support to get a new part, since my computer is still under warranty. Everything went wrong with this call. I had to speak with two people, giving them the same verification info before I got a rep to talk to me. Then did he ever talk. Wow. His first language wasn't English, so he didn't know how to spell the word "request," which is part of my email. I had to repeat it several times. Then he put me on hold three separate times to ask someone else the answer to my question. He wanted to continue with troubleshooting that included turning my computer off and on, with the same hesitancy and time-consuming nonsense. I finally said "Just send me the part. I have stuff to do and can't waste any more on this." He then told me he'd be sending me a link that I could use to order the part myself. Couldn't he have offered this as an option up front? The call in total took 28 minutes. So I went to the link and ordered the part. Guess what? Even though my computer is still under warranty, I have to pay $144 up front to assure return of my old battery, refundable upon return. We all know that I'm bound for another hassle if the return doesn't get recorded. Most people will return them even if there's no charge. And what do these things costs to manufacture? A buck tops? So guess what? They've just insured they get back a part worth a buck, and in the process created ill will toward their products because their customer service is so terrible. On every level they created ill will.Read more ›

Great little laptop for the price. Powerful, lightweight and only about a inch thick. Touchscreen makes navigating fun and easy. could use more USB ports.

This Toshiba laptop would appear to push all the right buttons when It come to specifications, but realistically I would not consider this laptop for anyone who does content creation or even regular multimedia consumption for one simple reason;
the screen is horrendous!

Lousy viewing angles,
Major color shifts with angle changes,
Screen glare that can blind you,
Resolution too low for modern 1080p media viewing,
Fingerprints and smudges galore

Photographers, Videographers and Movie lovers beware you will not enjoy working with this model, you cannot trust the colors you see.

The keyboard is also not to my liking, the button design and layout is uncomfortable for me.

I do not believe that CPU power, Hard drive space or RAM are most important aspects of a laptop purchase. CPU power is often the difference of a few 10ths of a mhz in modern dual core and quad core laptops of the same class, and the I7 is the only Intel laptop cpu that offers a quad core option. The only users that actually need the cutting edge CPU power is a gamer (in conjunction with a powerful GPU). So you MS Offfice users can get actually by with any core duo from the last 8 years.

Hard drives and RAM can easily be upgraded in a full size laptop (not and Ultrabook).

Therefore i surmise that if your screen and your keyboard are not to your liking, then laptop should be passed over. These two features are your primary means of using your laptop if they are not up to snuff then the whole laptop is a bust.

With the move toward touch screens I have found that most of the consumer products from Toshiba, HP, Dell and Asus which cost under $900 and have LED touch screens are substandard.

department personnel can't think beyond HDD and RAM size. After screen size the most important characteristic is the CPU speed. All ads and even tags in stores avoid stating this most important feature. Some slower computers are even priced higher than faster computers. To find a cpu speed reference (delete spaces)
