The Turtleback is a classically elegant case ...

I know I want total protection for all of my devices, especially for things like my Apple devices. It’s so not cool to tote around an Apple Macbook Air in a case made of generic leather or neoprene. If you pay good money for a laptop you might as well show it off. I borrowed my best friend’s Macbook to try out the Turtleback for size. Of course the Turtleback is designed with the Macbook Air and the Macbook Pro in mind, so yes, it fits.

The fit is definitely snug, but that’s exactly what I wanted to see. I didn’t want a lot of wiggle room because in order to provide the best protection, it needs a tight fit. Save for an curved opening on the top left-hand side for the MagSafe, everything is enclosed. I do like the fact that the Macbooks can be charged while in the Turtleback. There are six magnets beneath the suede that allow the case to close quickly. It’s similar to the iPad cases that allow for the sleep / wake function.

For me the beauty of the case rests with its elegant simplicity. It’s a classic black leather with no logo, fancy designs, or tags. It has well-sewn leather piping with a beautiful black suede interior. There is some stiff internal reinforcement along with light padding for added protection. If I were walking around with a neoprene case no one would expect me to haul out a Macbook Air, they’d be expecting something like a junk tablet. The Turtleback is a beauty and a definite investment to protect devices that will fit in it.

Great Leather Sleeve/Case...

Out of the package, the Turtleback Black Leather 13.3 inch Laptop Sleeve/Bag/Cover/Case has that real leather smell, it's wonderful. The quality that went into this product is easily noticeable.

This sleeve is a perfect fit for a MacBook and can work for some smaller PC's (like ultra books) as well. I love the design cutouts for charging so I can keep my computer in the case while it charges. Putting computers and tablets aside for the moment, this is a wonderful folio for business. I have used this on the side for holding papers and files and it is wonderful for that.

Generally speaking, this is a wonderful folio for all sorts of smaller devices. It's a perfect fit for a MacBook and is wonderful for my ultra book. This product is proudly made in the USA and has amazing quality to make it a real winner.

Perfect for Macbooks and even tablets

The review sample I received is exceptionally well made. In fact, the leather quality was a surprise, and the felt-like backing that lines the inside is yet another touch that contributed to my rating this as a solid five stars.

What I love is the subtle ways this is designed for Macbooks, down to the clever fabrication of the flap to accommodate charging.

However, this is not just for Macbooks - a 10.1 (or even the larger mega size) tablet will easily fit this. My Samsung Tab 3 10.1 and my Galaxy Note 3 both easily fit at the same time, although the magnets in the flap did not align with both devices in the case inside their own cases. But then this was not designed for that. I am mentioning it because this case is versatile enough to be used with devices other than Mac- and Ultrabooks.

Right now I am using this case for yet another function for which it was NOT designed: as a portfolio for carrying papers, music and set lists. It's absolutely perfect for that purpose too.

Bottom line: if you have a Macbook or other thin device that this is designed to protect you will probably not find a better made cover in this price range. To add even more value, this can double (or triple) as other types of cases and covers line the uses I mentioned above. But the real value is in the quality, which is a word that truly describes this cover.

Wrong size; wrong quality; wrong policy

Case doesn't fit a 13" notebook. Much too small interior dimensions, which were totally misrepresented. Also, quality of materials used are sub-standard. If its leather, its like none I've ever seen.

I wanted to return this, as it is unusable. But, the return policy is different if the order is not fulfilled by Amazon. So, I lose out, even though I've been a Prime customer for years.

One of the few times I've been disappointed in Amazon. They should clearly state in their confirms, before the order is submitted, that the return policy is very different if its not fulfilled by Amazon

Great Made in USA Sleeves

I used a friend's Apple MacBook Pro MGX72LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop to test both the black and the white version of the case. The cases are identical, color notwithstanding, so the reviews will be identical.

These Turtleback leather sleeves are very well made and simplistic in design. The sleeves are made from genuine leather and the stitching is very tight and even. I couldn't find one loose thread on either of my samples. The white sleeve has a bit of gloss to the finish, while the black case is done in matte. The interior is very soft and feels like brushed suede. The flap has three magnets that keep it secure, and one side of the case is notched to allow charging while the computer is enclosed in the case. The notch also allows the computer to be inserted into or removed from the sleeve with the power cord attached, which is a very nice touch.

The final thing I find appealing about these sleeves, and the entire Turtleback product line I've tested so far, is that they're made in the USA. While I'm not so nutty about buying American that I'll buy poorly made American products, or products that are substantially more expensive than the foreign made competition, I DO prefer to buy American when it makes sense. In the case of the Turtleback product line, and more specifically these ultrabook sleeves, buying American definitely makes sense. For $39.99 (at time of review) you get a very good quality product that I don't think you'd be able to get for much less money, regardless of where it's manufactured.

All things considered, these are very nice ultrabook sleeves and they deserve five stars.
