The battery is really OK - just lousy service

I have an old laptop in need of a new battery. I read all the reviews before ordering this one, and saw by other writers that a clear set of installation directions came with it. Having almost no technology savviness, I need someone to clearly point out to me that you don't put your fingers on this part as the transferred oils can be detrimental, or specify the order in which programs should be closed/the system shut down to make sure the circumstances for a Blue Screen of Death later on are not inadvertently created. I ordered the battery and it came... with zero instructions or even confirmation that it was the one I ordered. I contacted Amazon, who told me to contact the seller. I did. NO response in 2 weeks. I contacted Amazon again who offered to exchange the battery for one with instructions. I took that offer. A second battery was sent to me... WITHOUT any instructions or paperwork. I notified Amazon. They gave me a different email addy for the seller. Emailed them but received NO instructions. Amazon sent me a link to a video that showed me what a computer battery was (a concept I already nailed or I wouldn't have been able to order it in the first place) but not the specifics of a safe installation. Amazon offered to have me return the second battery as well and search for another vendor who might offer installation instructions. I decided to do my own online searching and - after watching maybe a dozen YouTube videos, none of which offered consistent information - I felt confident that I could change the battery and not cause memory chaos.
