Lightweight, with comfortable shoulder straps

This is a great everyday backpack that holds a whole lot of stuff and is easy to carry. One of the nicest features are the comfy padded shoulder straps which are adjustable. There's a clip thing in the front to keep the shoulder straps in place so I don't have to keep readjusting it. A quick release makes the backpack is easy to get on and off. It can also be picked up from the handle on the top if it's being moved a short distance, like in and out of the car for example. It would be great for a student or business professional who gets tired of carrying a briefcase. I especially like backpacks when traveling and having to carry work files and tablet or laptop around in airports. It's so much easier to have my hands free and easier on my back to have the weight balanced than having all the weight on one side as it is with a briefcase.

This backpack weighs only a couple of pounds empty. It's water resistant so rain rolls off of it. There are three separate sections and one of those is padded and is a good place for a notebook that can be up to 15.6 inches or tablet. There is also plenty of room for pens, pencils, business cards, chargers, files, etc. I was actually surprised at how much I was able to stuff into this pack. I was also surprised at how nice the quality is. For the price, it's a real bargain.

Update 3/21/15 - This backpack went on a several day business trip to a trade show, meetings, etc. with me because an oversized folder that I wanted to bring along was too tall for my computer case/briefcase. I used this instead of that case and it worked perfectly.Read more ›

Lots of pockets, well balanced on my back

I like backpacks with a lot of pockets to keep me organized, and this backpack gives me all the pockets I need. It has three major compartments and lots and lots of pockets and dividers.

1. The main compartment is 17" deep and 11" wide. It has a padded pocket for a laptop and a non padded pocket, which is big enough to hold a power supply and a cord (11" x 9"). It closes with a double zipper.
2. The second compartment is 17" deep and 10.5" wide. This compartment has lots of pockets for pens and small items. It closes with a double zipper.
3. The third compartment is 14" x 10" and closes with a double zipper.
4. On the outside each side of the backpack has a pocket that can hold a bottle of water.

V7 Odyssey backpack fits laptops up to 15.6".

If this backpack has a weak point it is the handle on top of the pack. It is a thin strap. It feels solidly attached. It is just not the most comfortable handle to hold when the backpack is loaded.

The back and shoulders are well padded. The backpack feels well balanced and comfortable. I like it!

Affordable bags at a great price

Both of my kids have been using V7 laptop bags for the last year or so now, and this Odyssey bag is the newest one. V7 makes bags that are affordable but are quite durable and long lasting. My kids (13 year old twins) have used V7 bags every day for school this entire school year, and the bags have held up to all the use and abuse they threw at them. They both have 15 inch laptops and so when we travel or go places, they take their school stuff out of their bags and then use the bags for holding their laptops, Kindles, Nintendo DS's and such. We've recently retired my daughters last V7 bag that she started using at the end of last years school year and she's started using this Odyssey bag.

Inside the main section of the bag there is a padded pocket to keep a laptop inside of. There is a middle section that has pockets in the lining for smaller items, like pens, SD cards, cameras, small chargers, etc. There is a third pocket in the front works well for papers, folders, books, magazines and other flat items. On the outside of the bag there is a large mesh pocket that can hold things like bottles or a computer mouse.

The back straps of this backpack are well padded, which is needed since caring a laptop along with other items can get heavy. There is also a nylon handle at the top of the bag (no padding or grip).

This Odyssey V7 bag is well made and everything for my daughters computer, tablet and school stuff fits inside perfectly. And from the experiences we've have with V7 bags in the past, I'm sure this backpack will end up lasting her quite a while.

Love the Bright Orange Color, Tons of Pocket Options

I love the look of this backpack. The bright orange is colorful and a nice change from the usual gray and black. The Odyssey is large and great for a college or high school student. It could also be used for a casual business backpack. It has a very deep and well padded laptop pocket located to the back of the pack and closest to your body. Laptops are easy to get in and out. There are a few pockets inside although maybe one or two smaller pockets could help if you like to organize all your business/student items.

In total there is a single smaller compartment on the front, a larger compartment behind that with some pen holders and a small pocket, and the larger laptop compartment with one additional large pocket. The backpack has nice gussets as well as two clips to pull it together if you don't have it packed tightly.

The shoulder straps are really nicely padded as is the back portion of the backpack, the part that rubs against your shoulder blades and your waist. All straps are easily adjustable and there is also an additional clip to keep the two shoulder straps together across your front.

It's comfortable and large with plenty of room for expansion but probably too large for a middle school or younger student. Sample provided for review.
