Bought it to hold a keyboard and mouse touchpad combo. Really solid while typing. No bouncing at all, even when the arm is fully extended. I'm going to buy another one to hold my 17" laptop since I'm now certain it would do the job without even breaking a sweat. Super easy to put together and install on a table via the clamp. Two extremely beefy turn screws to anchor to the table. Clamp has a rubber pad so it won't scratch your table. Clamp bolts together from two parts using 2 hex-head screws (hex wrench included) and there are 3 sets of screws so you can adapt the clamp to fit from a normal desk thickness all the way to a ridiculous 4" thick. Mounting bracket and pole looks like it could survive a nuclear war. Be careful to tighten the arm clamp to the pole sufficiently or it might slowly walk down the pole each time you rotate the arm. You can verify this by seeing that the arm clamp does not rotate on the pole along with the arm. Subtle if you don't notice it at first, but very important in my case since the arm passes over some other electronics when I rotate it. The tray that comes with it is way too big for my keyboard, but it does work and is very solid. As I said earlier, the tray would hold a very large laptop with no problems at all. The good thing here is that the tray attaches with 4 bolts to a simple mounting plate, so any tray with the properly spaced holes would fit. I'm going to build a custom tray for my keyboard today. Should be awesome when it's done. Last thing is that the arm and joints that support the tray are quite thick, so they hang down about 2.5" under the tray.Read more ›

Many people have reviewed this stand, so I will only add that the action is very smooth and you can get just the right distance and tilt for however you happen to be sitting/standing at the time. I clamped mine onto a sit/stand desk that I have, and it's amazing. Now my laptop is the right height both sitting and standing!

I recommended this to my sister and mom as well.

The construction is excellent. All of the parts, screws, etc., were in the box. The directions were easy to follow. I am not using this to hold up a laptop but to hold up a monitor. The clamps are robust and hold up everything so long as the surface they are clamped to are wide enough to allow the clamp to fully grip the surface.

However, I can't seem to keep the vertical alignment of the monitor at the angle I wouldl like. There seem to be caps which cover the bolts holding the arms in place but I can't get the cap off. The photo of the mount show the metal plate which the monitor (or laptop rests against) at an angle off the vertical with the lower edge more toward the front so that nothing would slip away/off the mental plate. I just can't find a way to tighten the plate to hold that angle. Must be me.

UPDATE:
I read through the instructions again and realized that the covers over the bolt can be removed. Go figure! By removing the cover the stand can be set in at any angle desired and tighted. It is now 5 stars.

I'm typing this from my 15.6" Dell XPS laptop sitting on top of the laptop stand. It is the exact same design used to hold my 24" monitors. They just switched out the VESA mounts with a plate so that you can sit a laptop on it. The swivel works very well, it's solid and sturdy. I'm sure you can sit a 17"-18" large laptop on it, but it may wobble slightly up and down a bit. It really depends where you mount the C clamps, because if you mount it on a solid rock, then the arm will not likely shake. For me I mounted it on the front edge of my desk, so there isn't a solid support to keep the weight from wobbling up and down. It's all good though, love this "single laptop stand" and would highly recommend it to anyone look for high quality mount.

I moved into a smaller place and lost excess to a full desk but did not want to lose access to my laptop. So I attached this to a stand that allows it to swing over my recliner and when I am not surfing it swings out of my way. This unit is sturdy and heavy, so I never feel that anything will happen to my laptop. I prefer this unit over any lap desk on the market. Would have no problems recommending to anyone.

the product itself is very solid, the clamp itself is adjustable to fit any thickness. the problem with the clamp tho, is the fact that it isnt padded. the bottom part that actually tightens is all metal. if there is any malformations onthe place that you are clamping on, i cannot say how well it will hold. the top portion of the clamp is padded, but barely. also, although the 4 section joint allows for most orientations, the up and down joint is limited by its own screws. the platform will never become a perfectly flat surface simply due to the fact that the screw that holds it in place is much to close to the arm. although it isnt a problem yet, this stand is better used to mount a screen rather than holding a laptop.
