Lowered the on board temperature by 40F!

The short.... ! Finally the Laptop I use for VJing is running cool ! See photos of before and after temperatures ! this lowered the on board temperature by -40*F! The only downside I can see (so far) is that the device you are trying to cool must be sitting on a flat surface, and... when this device is running at 100% cool you can hear it so if you can't take the sound of a fan... this might not be for you.

The long ...I generally do not write a review until after the warranty expires, why ? Because I am from the mold that believes when you pay for something it should last and generally nothing lasts anymore and wasn't worth what I paid for it. I also believe that if you have nothing good to day, then don't. Now with that said... this device fixed a problem I have had with a work (I am a full time video VJ/DJ) laptop and for the investment I am already ordering another one so when (if) this one fails... I have another one ready to go. I have been using a pair of PROFESSIONAL VJ/DJ Laptops and they run so hot under normal use that you can 'just about fry an egg' where the on board fans heat exits. I have tried several cooling pads. Yes, they help, but NONE of them 'extract' or 'vacuum' the heat out like this thing does.

Glass half empty... how long will it last ? Only time will tell. For me it will be running 16-20 hours per day 6 days per week. Once it fails, or get's noisy I will update this review. For now.... BUY IT !

I bought this product with Cooler Master NotePal X3 Laptop Cooling Pad to cool off my laptop which has serious issues with venting hot air out of the body. This sucks out hot air blowing out of the vent while the Cooler Master NotePal X3 Laptop Cooling Pad supplying cool air into the system. They work like wonder. These combination brings down at least 20C for me in cooler environment. It is a MUST for laptop that heats up like volcano.

Pro: It does what is designed to do and it does job well.

Con: The body is little bulky to be carrying around.
This fan draws power from USB slot, therefore, might require more than one slot for this fan and cooling pad.
This fan has a detachable panel that goes underneath the side vent on laptop. If this is used with cooling pad with level adjustment, you may need something that will support weight of the fan.

This fan really sucks (out the heat, that is)

I occasionally use a program that utilizes nearly 100% of my processor and the program runs for hours at a time, so my laptop has been getting very hot. I bought this fan to extract the hot air from the tiny fan in the side of the laptop. This mini Vacuum fan works very well for this purpose. It comes with several soft rubber collars that can be configured to fit over the exhaust screen in the laptop (an HP Envy dv6) and I found two that work and one of those works perfectly. This fan is a bit larger than you might think - it is about the size of two decks of playing cards stacked on top of the other (stacked like you would stack cards flat down on a table). The fan speed is controlled by a handy dial towards the back top of the unit and at slow to medium speeds it is relatively silent. At almost the highest setting it makes enough fan noise to be heard, but for my purposes, I use this high speed when I am done processing and I need to cool down my laptop, so it does not bother me. The slower speeds work fine while I am processing and do not want any fan noise. Also, I have my laptop on a Cooler Master fan base that circulates cool air all over the bottom of the laptop and I can use both this base and the Mini Vacuum fan at the same time by just leaning the Mini Vacuum against the laptop. I don't glue the unit onto my laptop and have found that this is not necessary as I use my laptop on a table and not in my lap. I do recommend this device.

got a wii, needed a usb fan so used this one because i dont get much overheat issues with the netbook anymore. i managed to slant the fan and secure it onto the wii's exhaust. works great :D during gameplay you can feel the heated air being expelled and the wii system is cool. my room temp is 33c///i live in the caribbean... its so hot today with the ac off and the wii works great.
This product is truly a great buy, incase any wii lovers want to cool down their systems...

This device definitely works. It draws extra air through the casing of your laptop, helping it to keep cool, and runs fairly quietly unless you turn it all the way up. Unlike the one pictured here, mine had no lights on it, which annoyed me; I'm not fond of false advertising. There is an issue when used on surfaces that aren't level, such as combining it with a cooler pad. I was forced to make some kind of support for the thing so I could use both at once. Still it *is* effective; just remember to position the rubber vent cover properly for maximum suction.

Good Solution for Overheating Laptop

After 2 years my laptop started overheating and shutting itself down. I started looking for a cooling pad but saw this instead and decided to try it. It may not be the prettiest thing but it works. Since I started using it, my laptop can go through a full work day without any issues - problem solved!

For those people who complain about the noise - there is a dial on top where you can adjust the setting so I turn it to high and then back off just a little so that I can't hear the noise of the fan.
