Very useful "multi function" USB 3.0 docking station

This docking station offers quite a lot if a fairly compact package it has many functions and is of particular interest to users or ultra compact laptops that lack many of the connections that this includes, but it can also be very useful for other laptops of desktop computers you can have a set up ready to go. The concept is quite simple via the USB 3.0 port you can:

- Use the dock as a USB 2.0/3.0 powered hub (4 USB 2.0 and 2 USB 3.0 ports), one port is a fast charging port for devices such as phones and tablets
- Adds audio in/out
- Wired Ethernet port 10/100/1000
- Ability to use an additional two monitors via the back DVI and HDMI outputs (HDMI also supports sound output) - Note dual monitor output isn't meant for gaming (update isn't quick enough)

Included in the box are:
The main unit (this has a removable sticky pad base there is an optional vertical stand not included), power adapter, USB 3.0 cable, DVI to VGA adapter.

Rear connections (left to right):
DC 12 volt in, 2 x USB 3.0 ports (one fast charge), 4 x USB 2.0 ports, HDMI port, DVI output, LAN port; side 2 x 3.5mm sockets for microphone and headphone.

Installation is quite simple with OS support for Win XP right up to Win 8.1, and Mac OS X 10.6 and up. Be sure to run the included CD first though (before you attach the station) it's quite a quick process if you are using older drivers for USB 3.0 it might prompt you to download the latest versions. A quick note you can use this with USB 2.0 too, though you won't benefit from the additional USB 3.0 speeds it will work.Read more ›

Love it! Works perfectly in my home office

I have been using this universal laptop dock with my Dell XPS15 for 2 weeks now and in short I absolutely love it!

*In the Box*
-Universal Laptop Dock
-USB3.0 Cable
-DVI to VGA Adapter
-Power Supply
-Installation CD
-Quick Start Manual

*Setup*
I decided to throw caution to the wind and just powered up the dock and plugged it straight into my laptop (didn’t use the installation CD despite what the instructions said) and after around 60 seconds the dock had fully installed itself on my laptop (which is running Windows 8.1)!

After that I simply connected all of my various peripherals to the dock and I was good to go.

*In Use*
I now have the dock tucked away behind my desk with the following connected to it at all times…

-2 x Samsung 1080p Monitors (1 connected via the HDMI port and the other to the DVI port)
-Gigabit LAN directly into my router
-Canon Pro9000 MKII Photo Printer
-Unifying Receiver for Logitech Keyboard & Mouse
-Stereo PC Speakers (through audio out and powered via a USB port)
-Qi Wireless Charging Pad (for my phone)
-Lexar USB3.0 CompactFlash Card Reader

I leave all of that connected at all times then why I get in with my laptop I only need to connect the single USB3.0 to it and I'm all set up and ready to go… 9 devices connected to my laptop all through a single USB port. It works absolutely flawlessly and as well as being a real time saver it also means that my desk doesn’t need to have loads of cables strewn across it, but instead everything is connected to this dock (which I have hidden out of the way) and then there’s just the single cable running to my work area…perfect!Read more ›

You Know It!

This is a terrific device that really needs a spot on and cluttered or cable tied desk setup.

It works brilliantly and made me actually want to use my desk again with my mac plugged in. I got so annoyed with all my cords I started using an android box as a desktop PC for emails and web but this little gem has given my mac life back. Some days my hands or back hurt so much I don’t want to plug anything in but this is just one usb cable. Just ONE! I kind of had that Meg Ryan When Harry Met Sally cafe moment when this turned up and I got it all working.

Installed the display LINK drivers released literally today June 3rd for OSX Yosemite - works like a charm with my only complaint being the screen redraw is a little slow.

I’m running an 1280 x 1024 VGA monitor, a USB gaming headset, a wireless keyboard and mouse combo, a USB hub with a bunch of sticks in it, and a little mixing desk thing. All of it without a hitch!

I will add a long HDMI Cable into the mix and try and get my mini projector to work and I think get the audio out and I may have just exhausted all of the possibilities and reduced my entire mac laptop to desktop routine to just one USB cable. One of the most useful devices in terms of workflow I have received for a long time.

There is even a network port that can be used so it would be useful if you had a LAN drive you wanted to keep local.

I try to tone my enthusiasm back a bit these days when I review things but this one really is something I’m really enjoying using and thinks it incredible value at $69.
